Roisin567: How to introduce a new kitten to a 5 year old resident cat?
I recently got a new kitten. That was a week ago, and my other cat isnt that nice. They have met a least 5 times, and my new kitten just runs up to my older cat and my older cat runs away. If my older cat enncounters my other kitten, my cat hisses at the kitten, and the kitten getts scared. How do I make them like eachother and have them meet eachother?

Well, you can’t make them like each other.
But hissing and growling is common, and the kitten is rather fearless and wants to make new friends. Your cat, who was, until the kitten arrived, the undisputed alpha cat and now there is a rival.
And your cat hissing at the kitten is its way of letting the kitten know who is in charge. At lot of this will be solved through time. A week isn’t all that long.
Give love to each of them, and equal amounts of attention. I am assuming they both have free reign, so separating them in separate rooms isn’t useful at this time.
Often, when the resident cat realizes that the new kitten isn’t going away, an accommodation will be made.

I use the slow introduction method. Cats have to get used to each others smells and even cats who know and like each other play strangers when one has been out of the house for a while.
It helps,if you have the space, to section the newcomer in a separate room with a closed door. Give them a litter box and a feeding station. You can go in from time to time (don’t be cruel) but do not pay a huge amount of attention to the new one. Your established cat will have a chance to get used to the youngsters smell and some of that smell should be on you! Your cat needs some time and reassurance. A few extra treats cannot hurt here. Eventually this will be a good activity to help them get to know each other.
Some cats never “love” each other but this will help calm the waters.
