NY.Violet.NY: How do you train your dog to not be aggressive against other dogs?
I brought my 2months old puppy to the dog park to get her to interact with other dogs and when other small dogs got close to her she just growled and barked at them. Shese a Chihuahua/Terrier mix. I will try to bring her to that same dog park every week so she is actually used to it.
But is there anything else i can do to get her used to it or to ‘tame’ her to be comfortable with other dogs?

A dog park is no place for a puppy that young.
You don’t know the health status of the other dogs, your puppy could pick up deadly disease.
Dog parks are HORRIBLE for socialization.
Stay away from park for now and find a good puppy class that makes sure owners keep up with vaccines, health checks, and keep the facility clean.
Answer by RooneyDon’t take her to the dog park!!! If she is only 2 months then there’s no way she has all of her shots. She should get some at 6wks, 12 wks, and 16wks, or SOMETHING along those lines. Trust me, she needs ALL three rounds before she goes near other dogs. Our lab puppy was 2 days away from going in for her 3rd round of shots and she still caught parvo. it shouldn’t be overlooked.
that being said, chihuahuas are naturally a little feister and more protective/dog-agresssive.But this can be overriden with proper socialization which is what you are doing by taking her to the dog park regularly.
Make sure her leash is off at the dog park, dogs tend to be more aggressive when their leash is still on. If she goes to the dog park regularly then she will get used to other dogs and that is very important.
but yeah-Just make sure her leash is off at the dog park and you don’t bring her there until her shots are complete. Make sure you go for the Bordatella (it’s optional) but very important if your dog will be around other dogs on a regular basis.
Answer by _____That is way too young to bring her there to a doggie park at that age! Wow..Please don’t bring her there right now ok?Answer by Jenny Manyteeth
Your two-month old puppy should never be near such a place! Her vaccination program is not complete, and she is not yet immune to the common dog diseases like parvo and distemper, which kill puppies.
In the second place, most dog parks are unsupervised and incredibly dangerous places that smart dog owners avoid like plague.

Our own local dog park was recently the site of a death: a pug puppy killed by a larger more aggressive dog who was not being supervised appropriately… because the park runs on an honor system, and no one is in charge. There is no one there to make owners of aggressive dogs supervise their dog’s behavior.
If you want to socialize your puppy, for the next two months, while his vaccinations are incomplete, take him to visit friends of yours that do not have dogs. Take him to pet shops, but don’t let him walk around: carry him in, let him smell the smells, and let strange people pet him. When his vaccination program is complete, at age 16 weeks, sign him up for a supervised puppy kindergarten class at a dog training club. Your veterinarian can help you locate one. He will get to play with other puppies his own age, and they will all grow up together. At six months, he can enter proper obedience training classes. It’s great fun for all.
Answer by Steveyou need your dog to go to obedience training. its cheap and they recommend every puppy do it, especially dogs that are showing agression early on.Answer by williamsfredrick
Dog park that young is a No No. Some owners might not take as good of care as you and shots might not be up to date. Your dog can become very sick. You should start off with regular obedience classes until all shots are completed. This will teach your dog boundaries, so when there is a sign of aggression you can correct it. Puppy kindergarten is a great idea if you have the time and money. If you know someone that has a non aggressive dog that you know is up on their shots that is a good option as well.
