wise girl: How can I let my parents allow me to take money out of the bank account?
I have a bank account that I have been putting a large portion of my money into for years (i.e. money from chores, birthday money), with the intent of being able to take it out at a later time if I decided that I really wanted something. Well, now I have decided what I would really want, and I have more than enough money for it, but my parents won’t allow me to take it out, claiming that it is all for college. How can I convince them to let me take out my money?

Thats not college money. Other kids spend their money on fun things. its the parents job to save for college not yours. you were saving money with the intent of buying the things you want. Ive never heard of a kid that had to pay for his own college by doing chores. That money is for fun! Even if they still make you save it for a college you should be able to spend a portion of it. Thats really not fair that you have to do chore and you cant spend the money how you want. you earned that money and its yours!

If your not 18, it’s your parents call really…you can try convincing them that whatever you are buying would benefit in some way, for example, if you were getting a car then you could tell them that you can use that car to find a job and earn more money for collage. There’s also the responsibility factor, if your parents don’t think your responsible enough then there’s a problem. Make sure your grades look good and your not getting in trouble. Be respectful to their rules and if you have to, suck up. If that still doesn’t work then sorry, once you turn 18 then it’s your money to do whatever with, if you choose to use it for something other then collage then they can’t really stop you.
