nene: How can I adress manager about co-worker problems?
I am at the point of quitting my job! As a single parent however I must stay put unitl I find another. I want to tell about lazy co-workers, and some of their nasty behaviors but feel as though I will be blown off. Our old manager knew of their behaviors and did nothing, we now have an intrim manger who is familiar witih these lazy co-workers. Should I e-mail her of my concerns or go to her office face to face with my compliants. I want to say something but worry about nothing getting done about the situation and blowing my cover whith these co-workers making a bad situation worse than it is. Everyone feels this way but will say nothing, I just want it addressed and resovled (it would be nice to have the co-worker fired for a bad attitude and constant tardiness). However I am afraid nothing wiil change and co-worker will know it is me instead of the mass that also complains. What should I do to handle this situation. Work is becoming more unberable everyday!!!!

If you want to have this problem not effect you as much stop giving it so much attention do your work and take your lunch breaks etc…as norm and leave that person be don’t even allow anyone else to talk about that person around you starting tommorrow go in with a new you eventually what you mite think is in the dark will shine but don’t bring that attention to yourself it’s not healthy but as much as it’s bothering you again leave it alone………it’s for the best………………….
ask for a face to face with your manager..have exact examples of your problems not just general complaints..have dates and times and names and your concerns..give it alittle bit of time to see if the issue is addressed..also write down in detail you talk with the manager….if nothing is done seek out a higher up and then adress the issue again and the fact nothing has been done…there are laws and rules that protect you from being a whistle blower on people in the workplace and if your manager reveles to them it was that puts his/her own job in jeperody…Answer by Carol
Honestly, this is a way too common problem. The sad thing is, there really is little you can do about it. Unless you have documented evidence of how that co-worker has damaged productivity or a certain project with their laziness (which is pretty hard to prove) you risk portraying yourself as a complainer. I would mention a few things in passing “I noticed that ___ isn’t doing ___. Is that an issue?” The last question is important, otherwise your manager may get the sense you are telling them what to do.
My best advice is to relax about it, and try to avoid seeming frustrated when you bring it up. Unfortunately, if the manager doesn’t respond positively to your comment, your only choice is to get over it.
