JENNIFER J: How do you deal with a socially awkward co-worker?
A co-worker constantly talks over people. She’ll be telling a story and when you think she’s finished and someone else starts to speak, she all of a sudden has some random comments to add on. Plus, she’s one of those people who dwells on specific details that relate nothing to her story… “i think i was wearing the red shirt, no maybe the blue shirt” for a story about her drive to work. What can you say without hurting her feelings?

Socially awkward people are those who haven’t had the opportunity to socially adapt to what’s considered acceptable and what not. I think we’ve all been there-not knowing what to say or how to act in certain settings. Let her be. Answer her questions, but if you find her annoying don’t be too friendly or she’ll never get off your back.

~I have had to deal with people like this too. I just listen politely as long as I can and walk off or get busy doing something else. I agree, they are annoying!~
