You could start by simply asking her to stop taking it on speaker phone? That seems easy enough, if worse comes to worst bring it up to a boss, they will be glad to tell her to stop.
Maybe make a copy of this article and tape it to her phone. What a freak!Answer by Monica m
Privately approach her about that matter. You could say something along the lines bout how this is a shared environment and you’d appreciate if she could not put her calls on speaker phone as it disrupts you being able to do your work. I’m sure it’s also very annoying, but I wouldn’t suggest phrasing it that way unless she doesn’t change after the initial approach.Answer by ♥ Shortstuff ♥
Nicely ask her to please take that off speaker phone as it makes it hard for you to do your work. Others need to have the sme conversation with her also. She’s very rude!!!!!!!Answer by cappo359
I hate that! I actually went into my cowrkers cube, picked the handset up, handed it to him and said “thank you for your courtesy,” and left. This was after several requests from myself and other coworkers over a several week period.
He complained about me to HR, HR investigated, and the guy was given a verbal warning. We ended up with a written policy regarding the use of speaker phones.
My coworker was laid off a few months later…he had other issues.
Answer by Foxy40Leave a note on her desk with respect saying that she can help others concentration by speaking in the right way.Answer by alltheworldsastage07
Suggest that she make use of a headset.Answer by snowflakes
Write an anonymous note and tape it to her telephone/speaker phone:
Here is an example of what to write on the note:
“Dear Elisa,
Out of respect for your co-workers, please use the handset or headset at all times, instead of the speaker phone. That way it doesn’t affect everyone’s productivity level. Thank you for your co-operation.”
Sincerely,
Concerned Co-workers
(Hope this helps!)
Answer by Working Class HeroI would take the issue to your supervisor/manager. This is something that should be handled by someone in authority. Make sure you explain that it affects the productivity and professionalism in the office…that makes it a managerial responsibility.
Also, I’m sure the callers on the other end don’t know that their conversations are being listened to by everyone in the office. That’s a breach of privacy.
Answer by spider.pig1959While the offending co-worker is in their cubicle call another co-worker near by on speaker and have them answer on speaker. Make sure your speakers are turned up as loud as they will go and talk really loud about how you hate when people use speakers, what you are going to have for lunch, etc. Maybe you could get a couple more people to do this at the same time.Answer by Traveller
Firstly, does it bother anyone else? If not, then you are on thin ice, if it does bother others, then go to her and tell her what the situation is. If that doesn’t work go to the supervisor. It seems a simple situation to solve. Using a speaker phone in a crowded office area sounds crazy to me.Answer by gina
She obviously doesn’t like holding her handset–I’d suggest at a staff meeting that your office looks into headsets so everyone is comfortable, and conversations remain private. Some of her conversations have to be business related–and if she is on the phone that much, it’ll sound a lot better to the people she is talking to also!
A guy in our office was given a headset as a secret gift–he got the hint immediately!
Answer by berryTell her to stop doing it or get someone to call her and say inappropriate things to her.Answer by carlosdavid
Politely tell her that she’s annoying you and other people with her loud voice and she should take her calls without using the speaker. If she refuses to turn it off, report her to the boss.
