Jim: How are the myths of the bible rationalized?
I recently read “101 Myths in the Bible” where the author, Gary Greenberg, points out inconsistencies, errors and faulty logic in the bible. He presents his information logically and in an interesting way. I know people of “faith” won’t be swayed, but how in the world do they rationalize believing in such obvious mythology in view of the facts?

Those of faith are victims of the corruptive christian church. The Church used to change the bible to fit with the current times (e.i. King James IX) and they soon began to contradict themselves.
For example:
If the so called “God” knows everything, why did he test Adam and Eve, or Abraham and Isaac.
Why did “God” create Satan if he wants peace and love.
Why does “God” Destroy the earth when he loves his children
And so on
Well, considering the sparseness of facts, we would have to be given an example. Personally, I have found only one supposed “inconsistency, error or faulty logic” in the bible that was not explained wholly rationally by the simple expedient of reading the immediate context and applying only the most basic of “logic” – what most people deem common sense.
That one exception requires that the reader read more than just the immediate context.
Now, as someone who has earned a Bach Sci in Physics from an accredited university, I am not someone easily “buffaloed”. Sure, there are lots of things in the bible for which there is no supporting evidence. Sure, there are lots of things in the bible that are “supernatural”. But, as far as I know (and I’ve seen many, many attempts) there is nothing such as you describe that can withstand even the minimal effort that I have described: immediate context and common sense – except that one particular so-called “contradiction”.
SO, I invite you ask for rational explanations of one of Greenberg’s biblical so-called inconsistencies. The one that you think most soundly and irrefutably shows the bible to be fraudulent would be best. See how a *truly* rational perspective throws seemingly rational claims of “inconsistency, error or faulty logic” on their head.
I think that you will discover, as I have in similar situations in the past, that Greenberg has managed to buffalo YOU.

Answer by Sρíɾítυal Paɾadígm ShíƒtHere are three quick easy ways to prove it to yourself.
I. First: You exist.
If matter-energy can NOT be created, how did we all get here in the first place? But here we all are ‘existing’. This implies the very hand of God leaving every atheist staring in the mirror asking themselves, “But how?”
II. Second: ‘Big Bang’ and other cosmological evidence.
If you truly understand quantum mechanics then you will know that the Big Bang theory requires a creator by fiat. Think of the universe in reverse until it’s small enough to be completely described by quantum mechanics alone. In order for the universe to start unfolding into what we see now, our universe’s specific wave function had to be brought into existence as a certain possibility out of an infinite number of other possible wave functions that had to collapse or at least decohere. At this fuzzy nanoscopic beginning, this required a ‘Prime Observer’ to enable this and set the expansion of the universe into motion and those initial conditions became the very facets of physical law. What we refer to as this finely tuned ‘reality’. This need for an ‘observer’ comes from the basic quantum mechanical concept known as Shrodinger’s Cat. Also, we must remember that the universe is being said to have come from nowhere which implies an act of ‘creation’.
This ever increasing expansion of our universe is alluded to 11 times in the Bible:
Job 9:8 ; Psalm 104:2 ; Isaiah 40:22 ; Isaiah 42:5 ; Isaiah 44:24 ; Isaiah 45:12 ; Isaiah 48:13 ; Isaiah 51:13 ; Jeremiah 10:12 ; Jeremiah 51:15 ; Zechariah 12:1

The Bible also alludes to the ‘Big Rip’:
Revelation 6:14 ; Isaiah 34:4 ; 2 Peter 3:10

III. Third: The fulfillment of hundreds of Biblical prophecies.
For instance here is one that was prophesied almost 2 millennia ago, yet has manifested itself now. Revelation 13:16-18
