jflsdkjflsad: “Found new Hardware” thing does not work?
I bought a new printer. When I plug it in to any of my several USB ports, nothing happens. But when I connect it to another computer, the “found new hardware” thing pops up. What is the problem. BTW my mouse is connected through USB and that works.
I have already installed the printers software/drivers etc. It is just that the computer does not know the printer is connected.
I have also unplugged all the cables and plugged it back in several times.
It is not in printers and Faxes. Also even before I installed the software, I plugged in the printer into a USB slot and nothing happpened. I did the same in another computer and right away the “found new hardware” message popped up.

plug it in and go to control panel and select printer and faxes if you see ur printer there try and print a test page by right clickign on it or go to ur printer utility that you installed and try seeing if it can find it in there. usually the found new hardware pops up once and the drivers are installed. in your case you drivers might have been isntalled with the printer softwere mght have installed it
It may be because the software has set the registry to think the printer has already been enumerated. Uninstall the printer software using add/remove programs. Then reboot, let windows finish booting and plug it in, if it needs the drivers, it will ask for the CD. If it doesn’t ask for them, you can still install them to get the full functionality available with the printer.
If it still doesn’t find it, here is a registry key that may need to be deleted. Always back up the registry before making any changes.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEMCurrentControlSet
EnumUSBPRINT
