AJC: Do you tip a tattooer?
I have been considering getting my first tattoo for awhile. And I’m pretty sure I should tip. I usually give a good waitress or my hair dresser 20%. Is it the same for the tattoo artist?

You should always tip a tattooer just like a hairdresser or waitress. I think 20% is a good percentage but depending on the size of the tattoo, the amount of time it took, and how much you like it the percentage should be adjusted up or down. I think if you really throughly enjoy the tattoo you should tip about 30% because they gave you something you love that will last forever.
Yes – 15 to 20 percent for good work.Answer by Custo
Yes. Absolutely
20% is on par.Answer by Becky V
Tipping is usually reserved for those events that the server or person performing the task is going above and beyound. Obviously as you mentioned a good waitress or someone who handles your luggage….otherwise keep you money for something else, you’re paying them for the job they are doing.Answer by Julia
Yes, tip. The last time I got one, I tipped $ 20.00 and I was (snooping) looking at the list of tips all the artists got (it was at the register, for people who gave the tip to the cashier instead of directly to the artist) and that was the highest anybody gave. It was less than 15%, so I would say that 15-20% is an excellent tip.
And now I feel cheap : ).
