Anonymous: Do you think you can help with my skin issues?
Let’s start at the beginning I’m currently a 17 year old male and as far back as I can remember I’ve had a little dry spot on my right wrist that would get worse during the winter and would tend to go away in spring. Then in about eighth grade I had a “soul patch” of red dry skin under my lower lip and my upper eyelid got all dry, flaked, and then would ooze. I don’t remember how long this lasted or what made it go away but eventually it did. Then in my freshman year I got a spot about the size of a quarter on my lower right forearm that took forever to go away and before it did was replaced by a smaller spot about mid-forearm. Eventually I got the red flakey spots on my left forearm and elbow and then for a while it kind of went away.
Just recently I have developed red flakey patched on both forearm, under my lip, a big patch on my left shoulder blade, under my chin, by the corner of my mouth, on my left cheek, my eyelid is oozing and I have a similar spot by my left ear lobe.
I’ve been to my family physician several times each time started with “Well what do you think is wrong with you?” and ended with “I’ll just write you a prescription for an antibiotic, ok?”
I went to a dermatologist about the patches and at the time I was having what looked to be large pimples on my left forearm.
Basically the dermatologist told me that he didn’t care about the itchy skin and he was concerned with the boils that turned out to be a staph infection. Naturally as you can imagine, the visit ended with a prescription for MORE antibiotics (which caused stomach cramps, nausea, and horrific diarrhea) .
So here’s my dilemma, My skin is turning to crap, my doctors don’t seem to care, and the antibiotics I’m on don’t seem to do anything…
