Im a very shy girl and when i go on dates i cant loosen up unless, i change into my “alter ego scarlett” even when i go on job interviews “Do any of you guys do this? and do you think im crazy

I’m certainly a mixed bag of sometimes contradictory emotions, but I can’t say I can just decide to put on an alter-ego for certain occasions.

i do that sometimes. i can’t do anything relatively non-embarassing around my girlfriend unless i switch to being more..outgoing? not sure.

What you’re doing is creating a “persona” for yourself. A persona is a social role or character that you portray under certain circumstances, to help you embody the traits you feel are necessary at the time.

I’ve done this quite a few times, especially with my male persona, Taylor. There’s nothing wrong with it, and it doesn’t make you schizophrenic as one poster implied. It’s something nearly everyone does, whether they realize it or not.

When they draw on, perhaps, the strength and confidence of their dad, or the regal nature of a movie star, and try to embody that to give them the confidence or the push that they need to go further, they’re creating a persona for themselves.

I have an alter-ego, but not extra personalities. =D And my alter-ego is just for fun, I don’t actually need her for anything.
