vodkastars♥: Can I teach myself algebra or trig and how long would it take?
I’m just curious how much time it would take to teach myself algebra – advanced algebra and realistically how much time would I need to do it?

Yes, you can teach yourself those subjects if you can find good self-teaching books (check your library–they have lots on algebra and trig).
How long it will take will depend on your skill level, your natural aptitude, how much you have to learn and how much time you are willing to spend each day studying. If you’re talking a typical advanced algebra course but on your own, you should be able to do it in less than a semester.
Answer by robbierto123anybody can teach themselves anything, just get a good book or website, and time depends on how fast you learn and how much time you spend per dayAnswer by zzzZZZzzz
Oh yes you can but you need research materials and a whole lot of patience… for how long… it’s up to youAnswer by mr
it depends on ur enthusiasm on the subject matter..there are books that does the step-by-step procedure on these subject matter.and algebra and trigonometry are basic math so its easier (than calculus) to self-study..
i self-taught myself trig in around 1 wk..(i had a competition, inter-school, and we havent touched that subject matter yet)

Yes, I’m going to jump on the “you can do it” bandwagon! You will have to find a good homeschool curriculum to do it, though. Picking up a basic public school student text won’t do it, because they are formatted for a different environment.
Homeschool books are written to teach at home. Most come with a student text, test booklet, and an extensive teachers manual. If you want to do this on your own, I would suggest something with a detailed solutions manual, not just an answer key. the detailed version will show you how to solve the problems step by step, something I think is critical in learning how to do algebra and trig. Some options are Videotext (google it) and Harold Jacobs. Videotext (which also comes on DVD) has lessons you can watch, then go to your book and work the problems. They have the detailed solutions manual, too. costly, but well worth it.
Good luck, hon!
