Crystal J: How familiar with Algebra should you be before taking Pre-Calc?
I have a good understanding of algebra and should be able to pass college algebra without a problem, however because I don’t have to take it, I am considering just jumping into survey of Calculus (pre-calc) but I have never taken calculus before and wasn’t sure how much algebra is used, what should I do?

Algebra is utterly essential to an thorough understanding of both pre-calculus and calculus. If you’re not absolutely confident in your ability to make at least a B (instead of “should be able to pass”), you will not perform well in calculus.
I am a sophomore in Calc 1, and my suggestion would be take either Pre-Calc or an advanced algebra class and skip straight into Calculus. I went through Algebra 3-4 and skipped Pre-Calc, and that was definitely the right choice for me. If you feel really comfortable with your math skills you could even skip everything and go straight into Calculus.
