Buying a house how do I figure what my taxes will be?

Tim B: Buying a house how do I figure what my taxes will be?
I am buying a house. The value of the house is 160k. I am buying it for 90k. It has 3 acres. What will the taxes be on it?
Well the seller owns 2 houses on a total of 20+ acres. I am buying 3 acres and 1 of the house. The house is 4 years old. They pay taxes on all of the land. So they do not know what the taxes on 1 will be.

You need to find out what the taxing entities are and find out what is the tax rate for the current year. A taxing entity might be: The city, county, local hospital, community college etc. Call the city to find out what the taxing entitys are. Then call the tax office and find out the tax rate. Keep in mind that the tax rate could change from year to year.

Answer by mia2kl2002
That varies a great deal, depending on where the house is — what neighborhood, etc.

Ask the current owners what their taxes are!! Your’s will be the same, at least for the first year or two.

Depending on what county and state you’re in, the tax history may be available online. I know in my state I can go to the assessor’s site and enter the address of any property I’m consider buying. It lists the various tax percentages for hospital and schools and what tax was paid for the last several years.

Wow! Congrats on a great deal and your first house! The taxes should be disclosed by the seller. Contacting your school district or township office is also a good idea. They can ususally tell you who the tax collector or tax assesor in your area is. If what you are really asking about is what your escrow payment would be remember to add in the cost of homeowners insurance too.

Answer by KnoBettr?
contact your county treasurers office, you should be able to get an assessment before you sign the papers, it’s called a property assessment, the seller should be the one to arrange it. Also property in the surrounding area also determines what your property will be worth.
