Our plan is very generous on contraception, the pills and shots are free. That being the case, why should they cover maternity stuff?

Check and see, I bet it doesn’t. I have yet to see one that does. And of course, you’ll have to provide policy number and proof before I will beleive you.

Many medical benefits plans also provide coverage for drug and alcohol rehab, but they don’t expect everyone to use it.

It covers contraception so those who don’t wish to reproduce can choose not to, and covers maternity care so those that want to reproduce can. It’s called giving people options.
