medasparrow: Why is Football called Soccer in America? And why is there Football even called Football?
I mean, English football came before American Football and American Football hardly involves using your feet. I mean, why even call it football when a game called football already existed. It makes no sense.

nothing in the USA makes sense
Soccer is a slang term, first used in England in the 1880’s. It is an abbreviation of association football.
The word “Football” does not refer to kicking a ball, but it is believed that it originated in the 15th century as a term for games that took place “on foot”.
