: Is it hard to start gymnastics at 14 years old?
I am 14 years old and am currently a cheerleader. I kinda want to start doing gymnastics on the side because it will help me with my tumbling, flexibility, and balance. I realize how hard it is and I know it will take time. But, I think this will be a great way to build strength. Is it hard to start gymnastics at 14 years old?

No it is not too late, but it will take you a lot longer than a younger child. We are flexible as kids and slowly become unflexible if we do not stretch. Just be patient and you will learn in time. Try me I am telling you from experience that it does take practice and starting late you will feel out of place. Just keep trying and you’ll get there. Good luck!
Actually, its not. You might feel weird if you haven’t done it before when you get in the gym. Don’t be discouraged. Just be ready for lots of hours in the gym. Its easier to learn correctly at an early age.Answer by Lizzy
Not to late at all! It might take a little while, but seriously, who cares! I am nine and I started at nine, and now I m on the USGA gymnastics team!Answer by fodaddy19
Honestly. Starting so late, you probably won’t get real far, being a cheerleader will help a little bit, but understand that gymnastics is critiqued quite a bit more more harshly than cheerleading typically is. Your tumbling and skills will have to much cleaner than you may be used to. If you’re just looking for fun and recreation you’ll have a good time, but realistically it’s unlikely you’ll progress much beyond compulsories before it’s time to head off to college.
BTW Jonathan. 10 months ago you claimed to be 14 as we can see here

And now you’re claiming to be on a D1 college gymnastics team? Sorry chief, but the math doesn’t add up there. Go pedal your BS elsewhere son.
