SWEETIE PIE: Why does school start so early when teenagers are naturally night owls?
Teenagers are Biological wired to wan to stay up late. And need lots of sleep at that age. Yet schools start so early that they’re are not getting as much sleep as they need at such a crucial stage of our lives, where we are growing physically and mentally. So why do schools start class so early when most kids aren’t learning their best and maybe doing themselves harm without realizing it.

if you get your circadian rhythms in check then you won’t have to worry about it. what’s all this about teenagers are wired to stay up late? is that real?
I totally agree with you! Even in college, I’ve noticed that I get higher grades when my schedule starts after 10. My body just naturally can’t wake up til 9.
I think the reasoning though is that most adults go to work at 8 or 9, so the kids have to get up with the parents. It’s stupid though.

Teenagers are not “biologically wired” to stay up late. Sorry, but thats just nonsense. I would love to see your source of this information. School starts when it starts.
When you grow up, life starts early in the morning and so do most jobs. The world carries on in the daylight, so learn to go to bed earlier.
Too bad you can’t see your question ten years from now.Answer by Ordinary G
Generally, school cannot start early, it all depends on when the person sleeps. For example, i a girl has school at 3 in the morning but she sleeps at say five in the afternoon, she can get enough sleep to wake up at 2 am and get ready for school.
Its not the school’s fault, in other situations, its the teens faults, they control their body and if they want to sleep late they are harming themselves. That’s why we have parents to tell us when we sleep. Sounds baby-ish, but its also all part of growing up.Answer by Taco Becca?! xD
I’m a teenager myself and yes i am a nightowl. -.-‘ I sleep lots to. ._.
Anyway i think it is stupid of them because half of the teenagers are always so grumpy and that makes them bad at socializeing with other teens in their school if they do not get enough sleep. And also why i hate school is because teens spend more time away from their parent than with them.
My mother home schools me so she can be around me more and me and her are like Best friends because we can spend alot of time together.
And it can affect their learning skills depending on if they are good rested or not. If they sleep 2 hours then it can cause their body to over work they should get about 8-9 hours of sleep so their bodies are rested.Answer by jdizzle fo shizzle

Cowgirl Nurse is absolutely right. The WORLD starts in the morning sometime when the sun comes up… I believe the sun is somewhat of a clue.
The other thing that is probably more important than anything else that you’ll need to survive eternal childhood is….. the world ain’t changing nothing simply because teenagers think it’s a bad idea.
We all knew everything when we were younger. If the world would just listen we could fix thousands of years of error.
But as you grow older you’ll be AMAZED… and STUNNED at how smart older people seem to have gotten over the years…. including…. drumroll please… that silly idea about getting started early as possible.
Answer by wilcofanI’m in 7th grade and our school starts at 7:10… No joke! (No, it’s not a private school either).
I think that it has to do with bussing. Have you noticed that different schools start at different times even though they’re in the same district? Because of that, the district doesn’t have to buy more busses to run at the same time, saving them some cash. …The busses drop the kids off at their houses and then move on to the next school and so on.
That’s my theory anyway.
