Bill: Why do so many African American men convert to Islam while in prison?
I’ve wondered for a long time why this is. It seems like quite a few black men convert to Islam while in prison. Why is this?

Why is it that quite a few black men convert to Islam while in prison but not as many white, mexican or asian men?

Why Islam? They don’t convert before prison but while in prison?

Also, does anyone happen to know a good book on this topic?

Most of them convert into the Nation of Islam, which is not actually Islam. Nation of Islam orginated in the U.S, which is for strictly Black Americans and is known to be radical.

Because prison is an extremely racist environment, so many African Americans that were not very racist before they went to prison are usually more racist (same goes for some whites), so many African Americans want nothing to do with white people and many of them consider christianity a “white religion” because the god is supposedly white.

That’s because a lot of black culture came from islam even most of our names,it’s one of the african american roots,also 80% of blacks around the world are islamic.

The Nation of Islam is big in prisons (they’re big anywhere black people need help). They give books, do seminars, sometimes give people money, etc. So when they join, they convert, like what Malcolm X did while in prison.

African American men in general and historically speaking have had their identity taking from them. When the slaves where brought to America they already had a religion and once arriving in they Americas it was taking from them and so where their names. The slaves watched their identities of who they where being taking from them.
African Americans in particular are they only people who know less about themselves. So when the Black man go to jail they are confined to literature and they end up finding out the truth about themselves. Their true names and so forth etc. I am able to speak on this topic because i am a Black women who has done her research and found out who i really am. I am now a happy muslim women.

I follow main stream islam i am not of the nation of islam group neither will i comment on them i feel that is not neccessary.

It is due to people being interested in Islaam, and believing that they will be forgiven by the Most Merciful, where a lot of people lose hope in after doing an act of crime. Also some Imaam’s (religious islamic leaders) come to the prison and answer their questions, whereby they get fascinated by.

It is also because they wish to have a clearer picture of Islaam, today it is being painted over, and made sound like it is a religion of war, which is actually the opposite, I advise you to read how the Last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was when he was oppressed and what was done to him, did he fight? Or did Allah ask to forgive those who do wrong to him?

A question, if someone hits you very hard, rapes your children, kills your wives, aunties and grandmothers?Please, what would you do? And what did he do? He forgave, but media does not pick up on this, however they look at when the Prophet (peace be upon him) was ordered to fight back, which is totally his and his followers rights.

Anyways this is a topic which we can speak about for a long time, and many will not agree with me, however I advise you to read about the life about the Last Prophet (peace be upon him) who is the brother in faith of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) and brother in faith of Prophet Mozes (peace be upon him).

That is a wonderful question which leads to another question. I can see why so many blacks would convert to Islam, but what about Mexican? When Spain conquered Mexico, Spain was just ending what a few hundred years of them being occupied by Arabs. So much so, in fact many people of the Mexican ethnicity could pass for Arabic and vice versa which brings me to the question wouldn’t the Spanish teach Islam to the Mexican natives? I know Spain has been a Christian nation but still?

besides black people are easy to brain wash, just look at the 97 percent of all blacks that voted for Obama without knowing their destroying the vision of the framers of the constitution.
