Why do people call it the “share market” and not the stock market?

Kevin S: Why do people call it the “share market” and not the stock market?
I’m guessing it’s an English term.

shares are traded, not stock.

its because technically when ure buying so called stock ure buying shares which originally meant (ages ago when share concept first started) you where buying a share of a company so u owned part of a company

It is called a stockmarket. Or Stock Exchange (London Stock Exchange, NY stock exchange). Because companies’ shares are traded there, some people call it , naturally, the sharemarket, although I haven’t heard share exchange.
I think we all know what they mean.
