Rolando C I: Why do many religions insist in twisting the scriptures?
For example the Bible clearly states that a practicer of immorality or any other mgrave sin. Has to be disfellowshiped from the congregation. And we cannot greet or say hello to that person for a certain limited amount of time. In other words until the person shows by his acts that he is trulu repentant. But the majority of the religions don’t like to obey what 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 says. And they go to the point of saying that you are not showing love to a person when you disfellowship them. Hello ! Discipline is part of showing love.

I don’t know. I always want to know why some fundamentalist Christians try to say infant baptism is unbiblical. That statement is as ridiculous as saying baptizing blond haired people is unbiblical. Both statements are technically true, but that is twisting scripture if ever I’ve seen it. Because baptism is commanded in general, and they think that because babies don’t get their own special mention it doesn’t count, or something.Answer by soldier’s girl

this is going alonge the lines of hate the sin love the sinner. and true disiplin is a form of love in a family type of relationship. but its out of love. when you ban someone from the church or mosque or whatever its outof hate and not of love. if you do say you cant comeback or be talked to until we see you are a “good” christian then its out of hate.Answer by debbie2243

Answer by InTheImageOfDNAScriptures are already pretty twisted.
You prove that by this inhumane, primitive, medieval JW practice of “disfellowshipping”.

I practice witchcraft and sorcery. Stone me.
I have turned from Christianity and now I’m apparently going to hell.
These are what you scriptures say as well. But isn’t there something in there about not judging lest you be judged?
Wait, I’m a sinner so apparently my views don’t count.
Answer by sunshineThey have no love of God and no desire to obey him.
1 CORINTHIANS 5: 9-13 :
[…] quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Do you not judge those inside, while God judges those outside? “Remove the wicked [man] from among yourselves”
TITUS 3:10-11
As for a man that promotes a sect, reject him after a first and a second admonition; 11 knowing that such a man has been turned out of the way and is sinning, he being self-condemned.
ROMANS 16:17
Now I exhort you, brothers, to keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned, and avoid them.
2 THESSELONIANS 3:6
Now we are giving you orders, brothers, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the tradition you received from us.
2 THESSELONIANS 3:14
But if anyone is not obedient to our word through this letter, keep this one marked, stop associating with him, that he may become ashamed.
2 JOHN10
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him.
MATTHEW18:17
If he does not listen to them, speak to the congregation. If he does not listen even to the congregation, let him be to you just as a man of the nations

It’s just proof positive of the fact that Satan is blinding people’s minds.
It’s the same kind of blinding that makes people support unscriptural actions like baptizing infants, which is absurd and without any kind of Bible support. Anyone baptized in the scriptures was a mature person who was in a position to decide for themselves if they wanted to get baptized. An infant has no such capability. It’s ridiculous for people to think infant baptism is acceptable.
** Never mind Magpie. If she’d ever picked up, opened, and read a Bible at least once in her life she’d come to see that her comment is a pure lie. Disfellowshipping is completely scriptural.
Answer by TwomaroPaul was very clear about the need to keep the congregation clean. If there was a wrongdoer that refused to give up their sinful practice, he instructed the Elders to protect the rest of the congregation by removing or disfellowshipping them. If they repented, or turned around, they could be welcomed back as the example cited in Corinthians. In his second letter, he encouraged them to welcome back the repentant person.
If true Christians do not follow this practice, then the congregation becomes polluted and will lose God’s spirit. Notice what the Apostle John said in Revelation chapter 2:
18 “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write:
These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. 19 I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. 20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. 21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. 22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.
That is not a spiritual condition I want to be in. Keeping the congregation clean is critical to keeping God’s spirit active in our lives.

You interpret to believe 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 should mean SHUNNING people, even your own family for WHATEVER reasons, sometimes for just openly questioning the teachings of your religion. That’s your choice. It doesn’t make it right.
It’s not loving, and it’s not scriptual. Sorry.
“Rustic Wannabe” – I’m not interested in your opinions.
Answer by pinkprincessI agree with you. Its because they are part of false religion and we know what will happen to all false religion in the end. Its sad they resort to twisting such beautiful scriptures.. but they are blinded by Satan and have the wool over their eyes.
You are correct indeed – discipline is an important part of love.. if a person was not disciplined it would have bad affects on others including themselves. Disfellowshipping is only a last resource – yet when it is necessary it is done out of love and we all hope they will come back from there errors and repent. Then we can welcome them back with open arms! The angels in heaven cry out joyfully when a person returns – and we need to follow that fine example .. and pray for them in the meantime.
We are blessed to know the truth and be enlightened … so many people are living in spiritual darkness. That is why it is our job to try and inform all those who are kind-hearted of Bible truths so that they can make a clear and informed decision for themselves.
