Ryan K: Why do homosexuals insist on marriage when they have domestic partnership?
I’m curious as to why homosexuals are making such a fuss about “marriage”.
I did a little research on Domestic Partnerships on wikipeda, which I realize is not the best place to do research, but ehh..
I notice there are a couple of things marriages recognize that domestic partnerships don’t, but overall it doesn’t seem all that different. Why don’t homosexuals go with that?
I’m asking this simply out of curiosity; I do not support gay marriage,
but I don’t consider myself homophobic or anything of the nature.

why do you insist on denying them marriage? what are you afraid of?
Because “Domestic partnerships” are a big joke?
If you’re not homophobic or anything of that nature, why won’t you simply support gay marriage. :]
Answer by DanFirstly, Wiki is all user submissions. Take everything there with a grain of salt.
Secondly, in my state, there is NO SUCH THING as a domestic partnership. It’s marriage, or nothing.
I would be fine with that, the title itself is of little concern. But, in my state, only heterosexuals are afforded any sort of partnership.
Sucks, huh?
Answer by Lord GaGaThere have been instances where such domestic partnership is not recognized in critical areas such as being able to visit one’s 20 year long domestic partner on his death bed in the hospital. What exactly is the PROBLEM with gay marriage anyway? People act like something is being taken away from them or something.Answer by Wolfie
We want to have the right to marriage because we want to be treated equally. There is no legitimate reason why gay marriage should be prohibited, and just the fact that y’all have to resort to calling it something else shows that we aren’t seen as equal.
I want to get married someday and then hopefully become a Dad, just like most straight guys do. Why can’t I?
Answer by Say DelisleWell, wouldn’t you be upset if you had less rights than the majority, because of something you can’t help?Answer by Bobby Jones
Most gays are clueless and seeking acceptance from straights. Gays are always trying to come out to straights and say please accept me. They also want straights to notice them in the military and accept what they do in their bedrooms.
Don’t let gays talk you into or pervert you into supporting gay faux marriage, because there is no such thing as a gay marriage. That is a oxy moron, by the definition of marriage. Also, there has never been a ban on gay marriage, only constitution confirmation of the only definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman.
In California, where domestic partnerships are allowed, gays get the exact same benefits as marriage. The stupid gays will argue about the 1100 federal benefits, but that is not state. What straight ever got these benefits for their opposite sex girl friends or boy friends? As a matter of fact, if you have children by four women, you can not claim them all.
If gay wish to marry or have children, then they need to find a member of the opposite sex, who is of age, competency, and meets all of the legal requirements of marriage.

I could give a good answer if I had more time.
It is important that the laws make no discrimination whatsoever.
There is a phenomenon which I would refer to as “heterosexual narcissism” which is a lot like white power, where some heterosexuals want to be made to feel better than other people for being straight. It appears to be related to some sort of lack of self-fulfilling personal achievement that would make them proud of themselves.
Most reasonable people don’t want to see biggots or narcissists ever win any sort of a small battle at any point during their entire lives.
But, there is not much one can do to prevent measures like prop 8 from ever being briefly ratified. As a society, though, many people feel that it is important to rise up and correct wrongs, and to try not to get too emotional about things.
So, just legalize it and hope that we don’t have to hear from these people too much again.
A lot of the anti gay marriage propaganda that is out there appears to be copied right off of websites like the KKK, so make no mistake…the propaganda is not mild,
Just let losers be losers, and those who want to do something positive, like marry the person they love, well, just let them have what they want.
Answer by T.CWe should have every right as any other citizen of the United States. Do you think that is would be fair if you had red hair you couldn’t work as a teacher, adopt, or get married to a person you love? No, but that is what happens to homosexuals. And the “Domestic Partnership” is almost exactly like what was done to the African Americans, Separate but Equal, which was found Unconstitutional!
There is no set definition for “Marriage”. The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman, but that is Christianity, which has to do with a religion. The First Amendment states “Freedom of Religion”, this should mean that you cannot pass a law that in in favor of a religion over the rights of the countries citizens. This is where separation of “Church and State” comes in.Answer by Ayana
A) Not all places have domestic partnership. And if you move from one that does, to one that doesn’t… they don’t recognize it.
B) State rights and protections are not the same as federal ones.
Answer by Chex FriedThere are a whole lotta ‘couple of things’ that domestic partnerships don’t include. What it comes down to is being treated as equals.
