dillhole409: Why did Paul convert from Judaism to help jump-start Christianity?
Paul, the major contributor to the new testament, was actually Jewish. This as we know is a semetic religion that Christianity was founded from. Actually the whole Old testament is the Torah from Judaism. My question is, why did Paul a person who condemned the Christians who were springing up after Jesus was resurrected, why would he suddenly convert and actually jump-start Christianity?

Because he wanted to be somebody important and the job of high priest’s henchman wasn’t working out so well. Inventing a new religion and declaring himself high priest of it worked out quite well for him.

Another good one, Paul was a very active Jew and when God made him convert he was able to preach the best against the Jews. Jews believe not in Jesus and Christians do so how can Christianity come from Judism.Answer by The Saint
Because he thought that, if he couldn’t kill them off, he would just take control of the sect.Answer by Sarah
Because he felt he had found the truth in Jesus. In the bible it says that he was riding his donkey and there was a bright light that blinded him, and he heard God’s voice and God told him the truth… He even felt compelled enough to change his original name (Saul) to Paul to show people that he was a “new person”… I could go on, but that is the main part of the storyAnswer by Val
He did not help jump start Christianity. His writings are the only one that have been authenticated to the Christian time line and he does not mention anything in the gospels which are put in before his. And wasn’t Paul a Roman Jew. So had privileges of not being stoned to death by anyone.
The gospels all date to the time the bible first came into being in the dark ages and all follow the Mithratic story line. The last despot Roman emperor Constantine commissioned the first bible just after the plague killed 50% of the population, that left him a totally insane despot. Before the bible he was a devout follower of Mithra.
The bible is a dark ages fiction created by an insane despot. Taking advantage of peoples terror of half the population dying, in order to regain Roman control.

Answer by guraqt2meWhen God intervened into the life of Paul, Paul was a zealous Jewish chief, Pharisee, who was taking Christians to get murdered by the Romans, by the hundreds. God had other plans for Paul, and intervened in Paul’s legalistic, life-centred religion, to convert him to taking over where Christ left off, as a physical instrument to the Gentiles, in His hands. (Who else could understand the concept of God’s grace better than a legalistic, centred, chief Pharisee, from Jewish roots, having people murdered, in God’s name ? ) God cause Paul on the road to Damascus to be blind. From that point on-ward, the once “mighty” big shot, Paul, who was flawless in keeping the Jewish laws from the Old Testament Covenant, became putty in God’s hands. God changed direction n Paul’s life for him. This conversion of Paul was so astounding that even, the Christians in Jerusalem had a tough time believing Paul was now, on their side armed with grace rather than the Law ! The rest is history. God can and will ultimately will convert the world to Him, everyone in both, their turn and time. If God can make an ass (Baalim incident) talk then, people, who are much stubborn, will be a cinch !
