elvisrocks: What to expect when placing a miniature horse in with full size horses?
If we put a miniature in with our full size horses what can we expect? Do the full size horses treat in like another horse and it falls into the pecking order? Or is it more like having a goat or dog around them? Will the full size pick on or be mean to the miniature?

Horses do not recognize size – only gender and species. So yes, it will fall into the pecking order. I had several horses and rescued a 39″ pony stallion and he quickly became herd leader. ( he was a very trim and lean pony – not stocky and choppy like most ponies).
depends on the horses..
mini studs will chase full size horses and are tougher than you might think
we had a mare and 2 minis unfortunately the mare had hormone issues and thought one of the minis was her foal.
however we also had sheep, donkey, and llama in the same pasture as the horses.. its fun..
generally a good horse will not pick on a mini.. however a bully would, horses being herd animals are usually okay if given enough room
Answer by pinkdaisy.Miniature horses will be at risk of getting hurt by the larger horses depending up on the size difference you are talking about. They could be kicked or ran over by accident if not intentionally. At first you can expect your horses to be curious and check it out but after a while it would be just another horse. Just remember other horses kick and bite and do all sorts of things to each other. Are you willing to take the risk?Answer by Heather B
I ride a horse named Texas Toast at my lessons and he is sooo small. I was worried one day when my trainer told me to put him in with the other boys and realized that they were 5 times bigger than he was! But right when I let him go he booked it in the feild and was bullying the others! So to answer your question, I guess it depends on the horse but Toaster was such a bully to them ๐ Maybe it depends on with the bigger horse so they feel competitive.Answer by LARA ๐
They’ll be grand in our stables we have 2 minis and they are very high on the pecking order….. it doesnt matter what size they are;):DAnswer by JMaahs
The mini will fall into the picking order. At a barn I used to work at, we put two mini geldings in with another horse. The two minis were high on the pecking order. We had to move them after a while because the miniatures kept biting the other horse’s legs, and she was getting lots of marks and scratches. So, it doesn’t really depend on size – just the horse. ๐
