ikesimonelli: How do I get my parrot to love me again?
I was rough with him about 3 months ago, and want him to be buddies with me again. He is a Meyer’s parrot, and every time I approach him he is fine with it, but the second I stick out my pointer finger to him so that he can “step up”, he freaks out. Any Suggestions?

Being rough with a bird? Who’s got more intelligence you or the bird? Sound to me like the bird. Get rid of the poor thing before you kill it.

Is there any food that he likes as a special treat? Put that on your little finger then hold out your index and little finger with the treat on it. Maybe he will “step up” to get his treat.Answer by Jenn
It is going to take awhile to earn back your birds trust. You just need to approach him daily and give him a treat or friendly gesture every time he does something good. But it could take awhile, just be patient.Answer by conure_chick
Rough how? Poked him? Hit him? Any physical roughness is veyr traumatic to a bird adn it may take to you awhile to gian trust. i tonly takes seconds to ruin years worth of trust. You have to start from square one. Restart the bonding process. Offer treats, and be as near to him as he will elt you go. Talk to him and encourage him to come to with treats and little foot toys he may like. If you can pet him, do so and praise him as if he had just saved the world as you do so. Use food as well. It will probalby take month mimimum to start to get your bond back but in about 2 weeks you should be able to touch him. For now while you’re working on turst use a perch to work on the step up and step down command. This is a good trust/training time as well as exercise. Best of luck. But remember birds never ever understand physical abuse. hitting or even hard poking or flicking can harm a bond…Remember to be patient and kind. Hope things turn out well.Answer by Linnea . .
don’t make any sudden movements, talk quietly, take him out every day to get him to trust you again.
