J: What plant is a good gift for my botanist fiancee?
My fiancee LOVES plants and I would like to get him an exotic or interesting plant that he could take care of. I live in Canada, so it would have to be a plant that I could access there. I’m really looking for something that’s very different, something you can’t buy at the local Wal-Mart plant centre. Any ideas? He can take care of almost anything, so no worries about the difficulty level of care.

I’d be careful of any online retailers. Shipped plants tend to take a beating, but if you have a local nursery, these are my picks:
