Lmeister: What major football college has the best academics?
We’re talking I-A here, with a good football program. I want to know what college you think not only has good football, but also offers top-notch academics. Please support your answer with more than the usual hearsay or baseless opinions.

Duke, Rice and Vanderbilt are all great academically without great football.
The list of great football schools with questionable academics is too long to list here.Answer by some_dude293
Probably U. Michigan. They are usually ranked in the top-25 academically, and they have so many good programs.Answer by quikkushirubaa
Well, I am not familiar with football that much but if your talking about California, then it would probably be UCLA. They are second place in education compared to all UC schools (Berekely is 1st) and has a good descent football team. USC is a good school but I believe UCLA are smarter than they are.Answer by psycho-cook
I am thinking Stanford or Boston College. Stanford is considered Ivy League from what I have heard and Boston College was considered one of the best engineering colleges way back when I was looking at colleges.Answer by sethsdadiam
Going to have to agree with Puma, but Boston College wouldn’t be a bad choice either.Answer by xoil1321321432423
It completely depends on what academic program you are looking at. I mean Duke is top notch academically but their football team sucks. All of the Big10 school are pretty good academically. Although not as high as probably a USC or Notre Dame would be.
But different schools have different programs ranked differently so it depends 🙂

Two that haven’t been mentioned:
1) University of Texas is top fifty, with plenty of much better grad programs.
2) Berkeley is a great school, plus football has improved quite a bit lately.Answer by brainstorm
The University of Michigan has one of the best Medical schools in the country. It also has a pretty good law school and one of the largest group of graduates in the country. Oh, and by the way, not too shabby a football program. (All time winningest school in NCAA history). Some of this is personal knowledge and you can find much much more at Wikipedia , from the NCAA, etc.Answer by Phil P

Check for yourself.
Answer by Donald GAs a Notre Dame grad, I’m of course partial to them. But check the link and judge for yourself. You might conclude Notre Dame–but you might also pick Stanford or the University of North Carolina (a major football college, though not necessarily high on the football list if you use national championships as a criteria).
Use link below and judge for yourself.
Answer by rnelsunshine8Notre Dame by far. Notre Dame struggled to attract many players over the last couple decades because it’s standards were so high. Not only is it very hard to get into that school, it takes a lot of effort to keep your grades up. No majore athlete wants to go to school, they want to play.Answer by ☼Enigmatic Mind☼

The quality of the education your student will receive from any University is determined by the education behind his instructors.
By that, I mean instructor # 1 who teaches your child, was taught by instructor # 2 , who was taught by instructor # 3, and you’re going to be looking at each generation of instructor. What you will find behind the instructors who are productive, proactive, creative and produce inspired productive – creative students is this: they graduated high school, then they went to work. After working a while, they earned their bachelors degree and went to work. Later, they earned their masters degree and went to work. Finally, they earned their Ph.D., and went to work.
In alphabetical order, there are two schools which are good : University of Florida – the Gators, and University of Texas – the Longhorns.
It’s a tough choice.
Search the history of the University’s Who’s Who, look at what the universities have produced over the last two or three generations and see if that is the type person you have raised your son to be. If it is, choose that University.

Hi,
Ohio State University aka OSU is not only the biggest university in the USA,but has the number 1football team over and over again.it has lots majors and Columbus ,Ohio is a fun city with good employment oppurtunities.
Academics are hard, but rewarding. Classes are large and alot of graduate students are teaching. It’s sad that each individual is a number nota name. That is the only thing I feel is negative. They offer online classes, and regular classes.People are pretty nice and helpful. Reny is reasonable especially witha roommate that you like, trust with paying his or hers part of thr rent and utilites.Look up more info on Yahoo!search and OSu.com
picking out the best college or university is not easy. I went to CWRU in Cleveland for my first degree. The academics were very challenging and the people were nice. I f you are a geek,(do not take this wrong) you will fit in.
Iwas in my 20’s and I had a hard time finding a really good looking guy,but as i grew older ,i realized looks aren’t every thing. The bad thing about CWRU is:it is Downtown Cleveland. If you go there Go to Little Italy if you love Italian food and goto Mama Santa’s. It is soooo good ,imiss their pasta and pizza. I wish luck if you have any questions e- mail me any timeAnswer by jumpingrightin
That’s like asking, who is the tallest midget!
You attend college for education not for football. It’s VERY stupid to select a college based on its football program. The football program at colleges distractions from the importance of the education.
Use US News & World Report that ranks the best colleges.

It’s a natural fact that getting into Notre Dame is the most difficult thing to do for any athlete that doesn’t have superior grades, and maintaining a B+ average to stay on the team is just as much as a dawning task once you are accepted.
That’s the #1 reason why a few years ago all the sports analysis were saying that the talent level on the football team wasn’t what it once was, because the academic standards had gotten a little to high and all the blue chip players were looking else where because of it.
A good number of the athletes that attend Notre Dame more times than not have either an impressive SAT score (900-1450), a high GPA (3.5 – 5.0) or both.

Good football, all football players carry a 3.5 or better GPA, excellent curriculum. A degree from Notre Dame opens lots of doors.
Answer by frofusThis could be any number of schools. Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Michigan, Northwestern, Florida, Miami, Tenneessee, Arizona State, so on and so forth all are recognized academically in something. Also some schools have lowered academic standards in the past to bolster their athletic department. Notre Dame has been critizied for not doing that recently-the football program just wasn’t doing very well. I’ll give you that Stanford, Notre Dame, and Northwestern have the highest academic standards but Notre Dame has the most celebrated football program of these. So I believe that Notre Dame is the best.Answer by ???none of your bees wax???
