Got Pomchi?: What kind of regular grocery store meat renders the most cooking lard?
When I cook like bacon or ribs I really like using the lard in cooking but I don’t really cook either one that much. What kind of meat can I cook every once in a while for the fat?

While most meat will give you some residual cooking fat…the best is plain 80/20 hambuger meat.
you can buy lard, usually in the mexican aisle, maybe the cooking aisle.
you can also store left over bacon grease and pork grease. just put in a empty coffee container with a lid or tupperware with a lid and refrigerate. it keeps for about a month.Answer by brandi b

Bacon renders its own fat by design. Why use lard for that?
Armour makes llard in supermarkets, so just ask your butcher or visit a Hispanic market.
Answer by shayndelIf you buy pork fat (or pork belly) at a supermarket or a butcher, you will get the best cooking fat there is. You can slowly render it and get a good amount of lard, which will keep in the fridge or the freezer for quite a long time.
If possible, try to get pork from a local farmer — it will give you the best quality.

Answer by SuzySometimes in the meat section you can buy pork fat if you don’t want to wait until you have pork for dinner. If you are going to render your own lard, drain it through a coffee filter to get the particles out. That way it won’t try to go rancid so fast. Keep a jar with a tight lid in the fridge and pour your cleaned fat in. Otherwise, like the others said, you can buy lard at the grocery store.
