Keira Rose: What kind of jobs are there for people who go to college for art?
I’m in my first year of high school and thinking about my future job. I had always thought that I would take four years of art and then go to college for art, but now I’m not so sure. I mean, I don’t want to be a starving artist or anything. People always told me to do what I love for a job, but I do like money, and I’m no Picasso. So what sorts of jobs are there for “art people”?

teaching art in highschool. live with their parents. do some murals and such. most artist majors are one step above philosophy majors….. now in all seriousness my girlfriend is double majoring in psychology and art, planning to be an art therapist. its a very serious and helpful job. but artsy jobs are far and few between my friend
freelance, design, graphic designs a big one, website design, teaching it of course matters what your doing with your art-i’m in the same boat though this is my first year of college and i’ kind of spread out..i major in photography but drawing/pianting/graphic design and music so yup im an artfag. Rather do something i know i love though, thats just me, but then again i’m working minimum wage. Gooo artfags.Answer by Sophia
Making money is more important than “doing what you love” in this economy. If you are doing what you love but are poor and can’t support the ones you love you are going to be very unhappy. Unfortunately art is an area that is not very in demand and most art programs at schools are being cut due to budget restrictions. There is very little use for art in terms of attaining sufficient employment, you may want to consider something more likely to land you a good-paying job. You can always do art on the side.Answer by ownpool
Consider becoming a high school art teacher.
