Pink-Rated: What kind of healthy puppy food should my puppy eat?
I have a 6 month old pomeranian who weighs 10 pounds. He eats his puppy mix but doesn’t really seem fond of it. He really enjoys his Cesar canine cuisine which i give him and eats it instantly but it is too expensive. Any suggestions? I’ve already tried Purina puppy chow mix and pedigree puppy chow mix.

IDK ask yor vet cause my dog used to have Royal Canine Shih Tzu food but it is now $ 18.00 so we got her this buffalo food I forgot what it was called.
Even though puppy chow and pedigree are cheaper – they’re expensive if your dog won’t eat it and you end up throwing it away. So, you don’t necessarily have to feed him Cesar’s Canine Cuisine, but there are lots of quality dog foods out there to choose from. Such as Canidae, Wellness, Taste of the Wild, INNOVA, Blue Buffalo, etc. You may have to pay a little more, but your dog will be getting the protein and minerals he needs instead of a bunch of grains and cereals that will leave him unsatisfied and which he may be allergic to. Many dogs have allergies to all the grains in the cheaper dog foods. Buy a quality dog food that he will eat and you’ll be ahead in the long run – both financially and your dog’s health.Answer by doxie
Purina and Pedigree are not quality dog foods. Get a food with real meat meal and low corn or other starchy filler grains.Answer by Don’t Litter! Spay & Neuter
If you were given a plate full of McDonalds you would probably devour it too. He eats it quick because it is full of fat and sugar, neither of which he needs. Small dog’s teeth rot out really quickly and the worst thing you could do is to give him wet food. Get him on a higher quality dry puppy kibble, one where the first ingredient is Chicken, Beef, Lamb, etc. Neither Purina or Pedigree are very good foods. I feed my dog California Natural, it is more expensive than the other brands, but he eats less because their is better quality food in it. Eating less also equals less poop for you to clean up.

Answer by BobI understand your predicament. Champaigne taste with a beer pocketbook, right? With dog food, you get what you pay for. Simply give your dog the best you can afford and let that be the end of it.Answer by Kate C *Attackofthebear*
All those foods you mentioned are cheap and crappy.

I feed my dog nutro puppy food he is about 10 months old, it is a natural food and he seems to really like it. In the past I have also used Pro Plan and with each of these they have for small breed dogs such as your. It is best to stay away from foods that have a lot of by-products in it. The ones that have a lot of by-products in it do not fill your dog up and they will hungry a couple hours later. It is just like us eating fast food and being hungry in a few hours.Answer by CaliGirl
grain-free because dogs cannot digest most grains because they toxify and cause illness and skin disorders.
I feed my dog “Taste of the Wild” and she loves it. It is human grade, meaning it was prepared to the FDA standards that human food has to be (you could eat it).
It comes in buffalo, venison, turkey and salmon, I think. It has flax seeds and sweet potatos and berries…(dogs were used in a test on berries and brain health of humans. The scientists found that they prevented alzheimers…but they decided to add it to dog food since it worked so great on the dogs in the clinical trial study)
Answer by justwannaknowtry Blue Buffalo, it’s a good dog food, and meat is the first ingredient listed. try natural choice and if you can try to take them on a walkAnswer by Luvsdard
All of the foods that you have mentioned are not good quality foods. The two puppy chows are nothing more than corn with yucky by-products in it and gleutens with wheat and other garbage that can kill your pup. The Caesar stuff is junk too but because it’s canned, it’s expensive casue ppl will pay that money for it. Your best puppy food to me is Wellness, Just for Puppy, it is expensive but it is worth it. If your pup won’t eat kibble, just take it away after 15-20 minutes and give it again at the next meal with no snacks in between. When your pup realizes that this is the food that he is expected to eat and nothing more is offered, he will eat. Dogs will not starve themselves.Answer by T’n’T
It all depends on what you like to feed. Some are better then others i buy Innova puppy food for my pap puppy. You can go to www.Naturapet.com and the top two are Innova and Evo made by the same company but they are all natural healthy some of the top stuff. They have no additives, no by products or “other meats” (as in that could be hoofs, bones, guts, roadkill etc). What they say they have is whats in it. They were not in the pet food recall. My cat eats Purina Friskies, yes its a HUGE difference in quality, but she prefers it, she is thriving on it and has a luxurious coat. My pap who has a naturally soft coat it keeps it smooth, my friend has a dachsie and she tried Innova for a month and her dog had more energy and a smoother coat she was feeding science diet so she switched. It all depends on what works for you’re pet really. Just when you switch food be sure to gradually change it don’t just shove a new bowl of food at her, just mix it with some new with mostly old go by 1/4th new stuff 3/4th old do this for awhile then go half and half then 3/4new and 1/4th old. soon itll be all new. If you don’t want to spend alot for the better brand which in the end is worth it. Yes the price is more but you feed less of it since it has NO fillers, while the cheaper brands you feed more of to try and meet their calorie req. It all just depends on what you want. I hope ive given you something to help you out even if it’s not the exact answer you want, since overall the decision in the end is only yours to make.Answer by Ivillian

the best food for dogs is one called burns.it’s a holistic dog food and does not contain the rubbish that other dog food contain.take for instance a tin of puppy butchers tripe and chicken or even caesar, now if you look at the ingrdients you will see that roughly 79% of it is water but it will call it moisure on the tin when you look at the chicken it will say 4% but that could be beak feet even feathers! this burns stuff has been devised by a vet who realised that itchy skin in dogs and hyperactivity was caused by the food they were eating and so got this one made up.a 2k bag costs £7.50 but you would only feed your dog 40-80 grms a day and he will be full for longer and not having too many poos either because the body is absorbing the majority of it.now if your dog only likes wet food then there is a very good one called nature diet which is roughly about 80p for a plastic container you would only need to feed your dog at his weight half of one of these a day.anyway have a look at the sites and see what you think.www.naturediet.co.uk and www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk you can buy them in pampered pets if there is one near you or the web sites can tell you which stockists to buy from but places like pets at home or petsmart don’t stock it.Answer by ♥Amy♥ Akita Mom
Purina, Pedigree and Cesar canine dog foods are ALL bad dog foods. Just read the ingredients and you will see. These foods are filled with corn, fillers, byproducts and all other nasty ingredients that are not good for dogs. I wouldn’t recommend a soft food for a puppy, especially not one that is a toy breed, as Pomerania’s are, because toy breeds’ teeth are more crowded in the jaw and more prone to decay and feeding a soft food can cause this process to happen even faster.
