When I started clicker training my puppy, she was amazing. She learned that “Hand up=lay down” in ten minutes.
my dog can sit, stay, bark, beg, howl, roll over, get me when someones at the door , and fetch, and catch flying frisbeesAnswer by Nikita
I used to have 2 bengal cats (one went missing almost a year ago).
When they were kittens, the little one used to get stuck in trees all the time when we first brought her home, so the other cat would come and find me and meow loudly, running back and forth in front of me so I would go outside.
As I started to follow her she would keep turning around to make sure I was following her.
She was so clever to be able to make me realise that I needed to follow her to rescue the little one.
Answer by KayWhen my cat was a kitten, she worked out pretty quickly that being outside was far more preferable to staying indoors. She realised that us humans got through the big glass sliding door, so she spent ages trying to get her paw around the bolt on the bottom of the door to try to slide it open. Although she didn’t have the strength, we were so impressed that she worked out how the door was meant to open at such a young age!
Now of course, she’s a much bigger cat so she can open the door herself, particularly annoying if we’ve forgotten to lock it and she’s supposed to be indoors for the night as we then have to chase her around the backyard.

Well, my dog isn’t really a puppy anymore but she isn’t that bright. Recently, someone was at the door, and she barked, then ran over to us, to get our attention to “tell” us that someone was at the door, then ran back to the door. We realized that she was pretty smart after all! She’s a great dog, but she still isn’t that bright. I also used to have a kitten and she climbed almost all the way up to the top of the Christmas tree one time. It was adorable. I think she was showing off her new climbing skills, lol.Answer by Judy B
Hi
We have a 13 1/2 wk old Jack Russell/Mini Foxy and he’s just the cutest/smartest little guy you could wish for. We have had him since 8 1/2 wks.
He has fitted into our lifestyle very well considering their general mischievous/I can do whatever I like nature.
He has learnt so many of the usual commands through voice and hand only, like sit, stay, come, chase ball and his shaking hands (with both paws) is slowly getting there. He especially loves to fetch and bring back the ball.
He also is a thinker and you can see him working things out, it’s so cute to watch.
Eg: We made him a dog house and he has a sleeping room, a day room and a long veranda. I put his outside mat on the inside to keep from getting wet and now that the sun it back out he tried to pull it out so he could lay on the veranda again in comfort. He also liked the outside fire we had last weekend so much that the next day he got a piece of firewood and put it near the brazier.
I can see him adding so much more joy into our lives through his willingness to learn, please us and his super personality.

My kitten can open doors. Don’t ask me how she does it but she does.
I got a real shock when I put her in her room and shut the door one night. Went to bed and shut my door and when I woke up she was asleep on my back with both doors wide open.
Also when I’m not giving her the attention she wants she jumps up somewhere she’s not allowed to go and sits there staring at me mewing until I come and get her down.
Answer by ~Ling Time~my cat was on the pool table and the balls were collected at the front, he could hear the balls but didnt know where it was coming from then he looked over the edge to find the balls and then started playing with them..
Also if you roll a ball up the pockets and he is at the top pocket he waits for it to come and when he sees it he puts his paw down and pushes it back down the pocket to me..
GENIUS!!

My dog taught itself to open our security door, obviously she cant open it when it is locked, but when it isnt she gets her paw and bangs it against the bottom of the door, and eventually the door pops open a bit, and she gets her nose in the opening and pushes it open. She normally does this when there is thunder, because she is scared of it and tries to get inside.Answer by vicky

My 3 year old cat has learnt how to open the flywire back door from out the back – which then lets my other very naughty kitten out the door!
Also my older cat likes sleeping in different places for a week and then changes, one particular week she was sleeping on the ironing board with a blanket. One day she came to me in the kitchen and started meowing and then I started to follow her and she looked back twice to check I was still there, then proceeded to lead me into the room where the ironing board is to show me that my naughty kitten was in her spot on the ironing board. We got into the room and she looked at me and meowed as if to say what are you going to do about it!!
Another funny thing my partner was knocking on the door last night and I had music on and didnt hear…when I turned the music off I heard my kitten meowing and when I went to see what was wrong he was at the front door.
Animals are funny creatures!!
Answer by zoey_hannahi have an unbelievably sweet natured and loyal dog (almost to a fault….he seems suspicious of anyone outside the family and i feel that the only thing stopping him from biting some people is his understanding that we don’t want him too) he is very in tuned with how we are feeling….like if i’m upset he immediately comes up and nuzzles me or if one of us is sick and confined to bed he will not leave our side…for nothing…even to get food, go outside or drink water…we have to personally take him downstairs too make sure he eats….and one of my favorite things he does is when I’m crying (even softly) he comforts me by giving me a “hug” …he sits in my lap and leans in and puts his head on my shoulder….he is so sweet…sometimes i can’t get over himAnswer by Lexigal
When my kitten was only 4 weeks old, I left her toy lying around. When I was laying on the couch with her that night, she wanted to play with it, so I asked ‘where’s your toy, baby?’
She immediately got up, ran away and came back in, carrying it in her mouth.
Also, when she was three, I had some friends over, and they were identical twins. I don’t know if she was guessing, but I told her to say hello to Joey (one of the twins) and she went up to him, rubbed against his leg and then went to scratch at the TV, where ‘Friends’ was on!

Our pets are all door openers…
My burmese kitten has a plastic lockable pet door to go outside to his run… one day we had some tradesmen working in the house so we put him in his run and locked the plastic latch at the bottom of the door, he managed to slide the lock back across and open the door!
Our Shiba Inu puppy is also very good at opening doors but until most dogs he uses the handle rather than pushing in open with nose he will actually hold onto the handle and walk across to open the sliding door or push to open a normal door, I’m waiting for him to learn how to use the bi-fold door next!!!

My cat talks to me when she is ready to go outside or is hungry. She knows that if she comes up to me or goes by the door and turns and looks at me most of the time she doesn’t even have to meow.Answer by Shelly-old [email protected].
my dog (A german Shepherd) always seemed to run away. We thought we were accidentally leaving the gate open and he was getting out, but it turned out (and this is how remarkable he is) that he learnt to open the gate just by watching us! we have a latch, and he was able to flick it up with his nose, and the gate would open! now we have bolts on the gate!
he also learnt to sit, stay etc. in less then ten minutes (really!) and I also taught him to ‘heel’. that is, you yell out “jerry, heel!” and he’ll stop what he’s doing and run towards you, do a circle around you and sit right next to you on your left side.
he also lets us know if he wants to get out of the house to do his business by actually going to the bathroom (that means he’s desperate!) or running to the door (and we didn’t even teach him that!) How cool is my dog.
Answer by Miss. MahaMy pup, when I was on holidays, was staying with some friends, she and another dog were in the back yard and our friends were out for the day. Obviously, the two dogs were missing their owners and decided to escape.
First, they jumped over a low fence, into a courtyard.
Then they pushed bricks out of the way with their noses, (these dogs are lapdogs and barely stand halfway up to your knee)
After that, there was a higher fence which my dog could jump over, but the other one could not. So when my dog reached the other side, she waited for the other one.
When my friends came back home, they found my dog sitting next to the fence, on the footpath outside my house and the other dog, still sitting in their front yard.
Answer by .roseee(:My cat is very intelligent. Her mother died when she was little so she learnt things by herself. She can’t do any fancy tricks but she uses her paw to eat her cat biscuits (She scoops them out with her paw, instead of eating like a normal cat lol)
When you are upset, she will cry at you and rub up against your leg, She just knows when you are in a bad mood.

my maltese terrier is now a pretty old now. 13 yrs. but she acts like she is still 5 yrs old.
one time i was cooking something and i went to my room and accidently had a 20 min nap and woke up to her barking non stop and scratching my door and i opened the door and my cooking was burning and there was abit of smoke but not enough for the smoke alarm to go off yet. mayb if i left it for 5 more minutes the smoke alarm right outside the kitchen would of gone off.
we call people f my family different names and i’d ask her where say my mum is and she’d go to try to find my mum wich my mum ends up hiding somewhere in the house and my dog wont stop until she finds my mum. LOL
another thing is my dog can communicate to us by everday language like when she is hungry. i would ask her. do u want to eat? and she’d lick her lips and i’d ask her again to make sure and she’d lick her lips again to say to me she is hungry. LOL

well, i don’t know if this is anything special but i have a kitten who’s a little troublemaker, and I just think its cute that she knows what shes doing is wrong, yet she does it anyway. in human years she’s 7, and thats what she acts like too.
I have 2 gerbils in my bedroom, she knows she is forbidden to go in my room because she always goes after the gerbils, and if I catch her in my room she runs under the bed or dashes out the door. If i see her on top of the cage through my window when im in the car and im pulling in the driveway, she’ll see me in the car and scram.
she also knows that by the kitchen sink there is a little black jar with kitty treats in it. if ANYONE stands there, she will come rub your legs because she knows thats where people stand when they’re going to give her a treat, hehe. if you shake the jar she’ll come running because she knows thats the sound of treats ๐ so if shes in my room when shes not supposed to, then we just shake the treat jar to get her to come out.
Answer by BugoutSome years ago my fathers cat had three kittens and Splot (he was white and looked as if someone had shaken a fountain pen filled with black ink over him) figured out at approximately three months old that by sitting on my right foot and hanging on to my sock (only tried it once with bare skin…ouchie) he could get a free ride while I was walking around the house or outside.
He also worked out out that when my foot was in the air he could hang over the side and biff his mother and two siblings on their heads as we went past.
Answer by PepperWhen we were due to return home ran away and hid. So I was left out in the country. But my master made arrangements to fly me home.
On the morning of departure my master rang me and we talked together for a short time. I was in my carry basket and we talked on the phone through the gate. While he only said my name and I meowed back to him, a lot of communication passed between us as he encouraged me much.

I was taught in a biology class that only very intelligent animals can see their reflections in a reflective surface and check out the other side before deciding whether or not they will stare back at themselves and perceive the image that resembles them as a threat. Supposedly, this talent is reserved only for primates and dolphins…and my cat! I don’t know how many times I’ve held her up to my swinging mirror and asked “Whose that baby?” Without missing a beat she flips the mirror over and looks at me like, “You’re dumb.” LMAO.
Aaaaand, the little booger has also managed to learn to use “the big girl potty”. She still reserves this trick for nightime whens he thinks she’s alone, but I have walked in on her several times using the actual toilet. She’s a brilliant girl!

my cat and i talk to each other [and sometimes fight]
we have diff meows when talking that say diff things.
this is coz i always meow at my cats to get a reaction out of them.
we have one for hello and what you doing and when we get angry at each other. usually coz i make him move off me so i can get his phone.
if i make a kissing sound, he head butts my face to kiss me back.
when i tell him no [he always tries to sneak into the cubbords to hide from my sisters] he’l listen.
if we are cuddling and someone walks towards us, he’ll make a diff meow [but always the same in this situation] that tells them not to come over.
he tells me when the kitten escapes out site my coming to me and when i pick him up he meows and jumps out of my arms, runs to the back door and stops and then i see the kitten out there when hes not meant to be.
he taught my old dog how to fight. the dog would get up on her back legs and swipe her arms at you [unusual]
he used to just walk around like the world was full of daisys, unlike the other cats who prawl, and me and my mum were talking to him about it, and the next day he brought home a bird [his 1st ever]
he hated the kitten when he 1st came, but i talked to him and told him he had a new buddy and he wasnt going to be alone when im at work and the kitten was a friendly one, and then my cat showed him around the house and played with him and lets him eat his dinner 1st and licks him and now tells me when the kitten escapes when no one shuts the door.
he also wont eat cat food unless he chooses it. i thought id have fun and ask him which can he wanted that night. i thought it was funny he would actually point to one and then run off. i didnt think anything of it. i did if for just over a week and now my cat has to choose which food. he also has to have half my pillow and the blankets over him always he cant sleep. and if he cant sleep, he thnks no one else should. im sure you can imangine my boyfriends thoughts on this.
my cat thinks hes one of us, and lets people know about it too. i know it sounds unbelievable, but my cat really does understand more then his own good. but thats why i love him.

For the first month or two our Pit Bull puppy Jackson learned 3 or 4 new tricks every week, and the hand signals to each. He now knows sit, lay down, speak, dance, give me paw, roll over, get down, off, bed-time (get in crate), go outside, come, stay, give me kisses, give me hugs, go see mommy/daddy, hold still, and quite a few others. He’s now only 5 months old, and has been completely house-trained for over a month. He’s extremely smart, and loves to learn, and we love to teach him. =]Answer by ~PrancingPonies~
