Emily: When should your kitten start eating all dry food instead of milk?
My cat has one adorable little kitten and I was wondering when the kitten would start eating dry food only.Because I already found her a home and the soon to be new owner doesn’t live close by,I kinda need to know when she could be taken away from her mother.

I would recommend keeping the kitten until she stops being fed by the mother, which will happen eventually. Probably about 5 months after being born.

The ideal age to rehome is 10-12 weeks old. Sooner then that you risk bad kitten behaviors from leaving too soon.

Kittens should be started on canned kitten food in chicken or lamb flavors (no fish). Dry can be used to nibble on, but the main meals should be canned. This can be introduced around 5 weeks old.
