Jonas: What is the sweetest thing your father has done for you and what made it really memorable?
Dads, they can have this really tough and manly exterior but deep inside we know this only masks their soft, sweet heart. Father’s Day is just around the corner and as we look forward to this day when we honor and take time to show our love to our dads, think of the time when your dad did something really sweet for you and share to the community what made this unforgettable.

My mother passed away when I was about 7 years old.
So my dad took on a bit of a motherly role through those tough years,
He’d do my hair for school, help pick out my outfits. And of course threaten to kick any guy that tried to mess with me’s butt! (: It may be simple, but I really appreciate it now.
I’m pregnant, and this woman at our church was saying things to my dad like “I don’t know how you can handle this. If I were you, I’d make her give up her baby.” and just tons of rude comments here and there about me.
Finally, my dad told her that he didn’t want to have to confront her, and that he’s been holding off because he’s not a rude man, but he said that yeah I made a mistake and both of us are handling it like real adults; it’s not even her “problem” and she’s acting childish over it. He told her to move on and gossip and try to start drama somewhere else because he didn’t want to hear it, he loves me even more for the changes I’ve made in my life for my baby.
When he told me this I almost started crying! My dad has backed me up on my pregnancy for 8 months now, he is the greatest! Probably my best friend! 🙂

I love to read a lot. When I was a kid, my father took me to the children’s library almost every week, then he will patiently wait for me to choose the books I wanted to read.Answer by april
I really appreciate it when my dad drives me to school or work or fetches me wherever I am. Also, when I go to work during night shifts, he always asks me if I wanted to be accompanied all the way to my workplace and stays up until I am safely home. He is the sweetest dad for me. Early this month, he suffered a severe stroke necessitating a head surgery. It tears my heart seeing him so helpless and still in critical condition. My smart, funny, sweet dad is suffering right now and I hope and pray everyday that he will be saved and recover completely. I love my dad so much and I still have a lot of things I want to do with him like traveling abroad again, have him and my mom give me away during my wedding day, go on long drives and talk about life with him, watch our favorite t.v. shows together, have my children get spoiled rotten by him, have him back home again. I dearly miss his laugh during meals, his boisterous voice when talking to someone on the phone, listen to him snore when he falls asleep watching t.v. or listening to music. I miss you Pa! I love you and I just like to say that you are the best dad a daughter could ever ask for. I can’t wait for you to come home. Ate charms, kuya jared, and me love you very much.Answer by Why R sum so selfish

I got pregnant when I was 17, my father just asked whom should I live with, is it my BF or my parents without being scolded. I’ve chosen my parents because I’m sure they’ll take good care of me. My father provided me and my child all that we need. I graduated college and he permitted me to live with my child’s father. We got married and had 3 kids already. My father never fails to give assistance in all ways, at all times. He is the best father in the whole world!! He works at office, arrives home too tired but he also does household chores as much as my mother does. He gives everything to his family without being left for him, such a spoiler all the time. He also does baby-sitting especially on weekends, love the way he takes care of my children, very, very patient and they play so much which makes my kids very, very happy. I LOVE YOU PAPA!!! YOU’RE THE BEST FATHER!!!Answer by Lawn Gnome
He played catch with me.
My Pop was in the USAF, he had joined the Arny Air Corps in 1941, he then went USAF when it started after the War. He was always overseas or off investigating something. One summer day, he was off work and at home, he got the baseball and his glove and asked me if I wanted to throw the ball around a bit.
It was 1968, it was summertime and we played catch in the back yard.Answer by trix

When I was a kid I was very sickly, I can hardly breathe when my asthma attacks and my Sinusitis really blocks my nose, one night I wasn’t able to sleep and then he took a little nozzle, I asked him ” Dad what are you going to do with that?” and then he said, ” to feed your relief”, and then in my surprise and disgust, he put his mouth in that nozzle and sucked all my mucus! And that gave me relief! Thank God! and my father!Answer by Francis

I did not know my father well because he’s the type pf person who just loved to be alone, not so opened to us in terms of his feelings. We perceived him as very strict but I regret all of our hesitations to know him very much. He died when I was second year in high school. I was the most sad person in the world when he leave us, that’s because I never showed to him how much I love him as a father to us. I never even greeted him, Happy Father’s Day and I love You even once. That is my greatest disappointment in life. If I can only turn back time I will fill all the missing pieces on what a son should be to his father. I never forget him but instead he was my inspiration because he was a great father to us yet a good provider especially that we are of nothing. To you my dear father, Tatay, thank you so much for bringing me up to this world, I love you very much and I missed you. For me you are the greatest father of the whole world.Happy Father’s Day!Answer by Alison P
When I was in high school I was in a rebellious state. My Nanay is in Taiwan working as a domestic helper and no one (I think) watching over me. My Tatay is so busy running his small welding shop. I felt no one love me or maybe im seeking for some attention. I was studying at the best section in the school i was attending back then and I got depressed. My classmate starting to hate me because I was acting weird or I did something they don’t like, I started cutting classes, addicted to video games, making it an outlet for the grudge against my classmates until my teachers started to haunt me. My Tatay found it out and started to scold me. I felt i was alone and unwanted, so depressed and for some reason I took my knife cutter on our bathroom and started to make wounds at my wrist. I forgot to locked the door and Tatay found me with some blood coming out from my wrist. What I think about that time is my Tatay would try to take the cutter from me, I was wrong. Instead he rush in the kitchen at take our kitchen knife. He comes back with some tears trying to hold back. “If you want this then, lets do it together” he said. He said many things but to make it short, he explains that he’s tired, he missed my nanay, he’s working to hard for us to get 3 meals a day, hes living and working for us, if one of is gone his life would be worthless, no parent should bury their own son/daughter… I began to realized that I didn’t acknowledge all the hardwork my Tatay did for us… I was the one who did not give attention to them… I didn’t notice the tears already covered my face. I don’t know what to say… but I remembered I said a very soft “Sorry Tay” after that everything is smoother… Tay.. Mahal na mahal ka naming magkakapatid…. Salamat sa lahat…Answer by myra
I stl remember d day dat my dad pass away n 4 me its d most painful day of my life. He knows that we love him so much. We misses his sinigang, menudo, kare2x, morcon every dishes he cooks for us. We feel dat no 1 wil ever replace him inside d kitchen. For me, the most sweetest thing he did is dat he dream big 4 me, his so proud of every achievement i did, every medals he recieveds becoz of my name. And dat i know my father loves me so much. Even aftr his burial, he say goodbye to me in my dreams saying “im alwys here 4 u”. <<<>>> We miss u sooo much PA! We love you dearly.Answer by jayleen
i think not all fathers as i have read here are like them, in my experience, i don’t even remember having a good time with my Papa, never i saw him smile even i am giving him gifts during special day. there was one time i bought a present for him, and the money i used to bought that present was from my salary during my summer job. When i hand in him the present, he threw it in front of me, meaning he can’t appreciate it. I am hurt that time however i never showed i am crying. Since then, I became distant to my Papa, he was not proud of me. Last year, at 26 I got pregnant with my boyfriend, I was already 5 months pregnant when they learned about it, he wanted me to abort my baby or else he will kill, i told him its better i will die with my baby than i will kill my own baby. He even slapped, pulled my hair and even kick my belly. It’s a good thing, nothing happens to me and my baby. i gave birth through Cesarean operation with a 3.1kg healthy baby boy. Although he already accept what happened, showed that he loves my son, i still can’t forget all the things he had done to me. And until now, he can’t accept my son’s father. They don’t want me to accept any help, financial help from them however, we are still seeing each other secretly. Although I am thankful cos if not cos of him, I am not here today. To my Papa, still Happy Fathers Day!!!
And to the Father of my son, I am still looking forward that soon we are all together now, things will be fixed soon. I know you love our son very much, you have showed it many times although we still can’t be together cos of some consequences. I LOVE YOU, biagko and Happy Father’s day from me and JN!!!
Answer by JessMy dad defended us from the raid of barrio rogues right after World War II. His story made me feel his being a warrior with his rifle defending our house if somebody would rush in late at night. I felt his protection during an earthquake when he took me under the tree at night. Wonderful experiences!

My dad passed away just two years ago but it seems that it was just yesterday that he was around with us. Being an only child my papa will always give in to what i want, whether its my favorite food, or things i want to buy. He will always there patiently listening to my stories, sharing my heartaches calmly, crying when i am hurt. We often go to movies together, eat to our favorite fast food. He fondly called me TOYTOY….it’s a thing that i missed most from my papa, papa now i know that your in peace and feel no pain anymore, i hope you will always guide us and look after us. Its sad that you don’t see your cute APO before you said goodbye to us but it doesnt make you less a grandfather to her…she know’s you by heart. The most memorable thing that my dad has done for me is when i was in my high school days particularly in my 4th year. My dad was an OFW when i was in 4th year he said he will go home to see me graduate i was afraid to tell him that i wasn’t going to graduate because i failed many of my subjects. The day came when my dad arrived 4 days before graduation I’m expecting to be scolded and beaten because i failed him as a son. But you know what he said? “Son what happened? Lets go to school and try to talk to your adviser” Wow the most relieving sentence i heard since birth lol. After we went to school my dad said ” Don’t worry next year do your best to graduate I’ll return to see u graduate son.” Most sweetest thing my dad said to me.Answer by GenaroJ
when my father tagged me along in hook fishing and we stood immobile for hours waiting for the fish to take the bait.in between, he would tell stories of his ancestry and how his family lost their inherited wealth; stories of the war when he was a usaffe veteran and why he would not get me a scholarship from the veterans fund because he left his battalion to save his life and only he and his companions survived.he died in january 1982 before i graduated my ba degree. it was memorable because he would talk about his sad past only when we were fishing in the sea.Answer by Andre
I was still in school and it was already late, and raining really hard. Since we had no umbrella, my father placed his hankie on my head to keep me from getting wet, while he was soaking. He gave me his jacket too even when i had one on, protecting me from the cold. A father’s sacrifice. I love you Pa. 🙂Answer by blue
i grew up my father never thought anything directly to me he always yell at me every time i made a mistakes so i became rebellious. i told to myself i will show him that i can be a better man than him! now i have my own family and my own child to raise, i always make sure that i gave my child all the attention she needs and make her feel that i will always be right here to support her. facing a responsibility to be a father is never easy and i thank my dad for being a father to me though the way he raise me is hard to understand i know my father loves me. thanks dad for giving a life…

When my dad hugged me in my dream a year ago. It was a beautiful feeling. It was the first and perhaps last time he did it to me. But it’s strange to know that he did it 5 years after he died from lung cancer. my father passed away 5 years ago…though he was not really a perfect father but we knew his 7 siblings he did everything for us..we were just a a very poor family in our place, infact, during my younger years, it was difficult for us to eat3x/day but my father always looked some means to have a meal in our table whatever it is…we dont have tv,sofa, ref or any materials things before but inspite of that, we were happy coz my father always there esp. during times that we really need him the most..Now, all his 7 siblings have their own family already and being the eldest, I tried to take part as being the brother & father to all my bros & sis..Now though we are not that rich but we can already afford to buy things that we could not afford before…As a father for my only son, I see to it that I could be there always to his side whatever situation they may be…HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL…Answer by kristine
When I was a child, I only cry when my dad spanks me. On time he saw me crying alone in the kitchen and he tried to give me a 5 peso paper bill (that was still big that time, at least for a child) and I did not accepted that and he said okay and left me alone. I know dad doesn’t know how to hush a crying child so it was his way of pacifying me. That was simple yet it was a memorable act of him for me as he used to be strict and hard on us when we were young.Answer by Lilith
My father worked in Kuwait for almost 22 yrs. And up to now, he’s still there. He used to send me “love letters” when I was a kid and internet was just an idea then. The letters are preserved with the help of Nana. When it’s my time to raise my kids, I’ll let them read these letters so they’ll know how loved I am by my Tata. I remembered him buying me CD records of my favourite artists like Spice Girls, BSB, N*Sync and the likes. My father has great ears for music. We used to listen to them when I was young. Even until now, we would exchange comments regarding this kind of topic. I think, he still thinks of me as a little girl. That whenever he sees a picture of me and my bf, he would definitely ask me to change them into my personal picture. Still overprotective. I think once in our lives we’d definitely come to the stage where we’ll hate our fathers for being who they are. And I did. I hate Tata then. Then I’ve come to realize I will never be the person I am now if not for him and his sacrifices. I’ve learned to let go of the pain and moved on with growing up and continue loving and adoring him. I love my father even though he thinks that I don’t. I loved him flaws and all. After all, he left me and my siblings to Nana and they both raised us well even in distance.
I love you Tata. Thank you for everything that you’ve done for us. We will never be who we are right now if not for you. You and Nana showed us what sacrifices means when it comes to your family. I love and misses you so much. Happy Father’s Day.

I remember my father taking time to play kite with me..he would help me fly it running alongside with me, helping me when the wind makes it difficult..also making sure that i don’t tumble on my path. He was the one who accompanied me to watch movies on cinderella. He was the one who would always take time to listen to my stories, laugh with me, and wipe away tears from my eyes. It makes me feel so important, and childhood problems just seem to go away because there was always him to lean on to. But God wanted him by his side and called him earlier than i expected. But, childhood memories of the beautiful moments with him will always stay with me and will be one of my most beautiful treasures that i will always keep for the rest of my life. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to have a father that was as wonderful as he is.Answer by mary anne
Every time I get sick, I always get awake from sleep at around 3 or 4 am, I hear voices above my head. At first I was a bit scary thinking it might be a ghost or something that I didn’t even bother to move my head to see who is behind that voice, and then one night when I was feeling sick again I urged to had the strength to find out who it was, and then I was surprised to see it was my Dad all along uttering prayers above my head..what’s funny is that He also do it with my younger brother and sister and scared them also. Prayers still works for you Dad. I miss you & I love you.Answer by Niezel

my dad died when i was 11, he never got the chance to get to know my 3 younger siblings, but in those 11 yrs of his stay on earth, i learned to live and survive. one of the advices he would always say “learn how to fish, so you don’t have to depend on anyone”.
i am 33 yrs old now, i was able to help my mom send my brother to school, be a part of the division of labor in the family on sharing family budget and doing household chores, i may still be surviving but im not depending on anyone so i can live
i miss you papang!!!

Answer by Joannie Elisai will never forget how my papa supported me everytime i’m heart broken. he’s always been there to listen and even hug me till i finish my crying. he’s very supportive, loving and understanding papa to me and to my siblings. he might be quiet at home but he always make it a point that we are happy. i won’t forget how he gathered us all just to watch “the simpsons” every sunday or watched “bewitched” with me. he taught us how to enjoy simple things and how to laugh on our failures.
now my dad is a loving lolo to my daughter and she loves him so much…just how much i love him.

Answer by ma. theresai love my father. that if possible, i would give him reasons to be proud of me. like, having awards in school and even at work. he’s so sweet that he takes care of us. he cooks and prepares our meals. even my bath before. but the sweetest thing that he ever did, was to accept me and my family at a time i needed him the most. i never meant to hurt him, but i know i did. i am so sorry for that. but i hope now, he will enjoy his granddaughter as she always entertains him and i know loves him so much. . love you papaAnswer by lyn
my siblings often teased me that I’m dad’s favorite maybe because I’m the eldest. When I was a little he often brings me with him everywhere he goes whether to the market, to his work and even to his friends. Since I started going to school till the time Im working he never failed to fetch me . For some teenagers during my time it was disgusting, seeing your father at the gate of your school but for me it was the sweetest thing and hope my future husband will also do the same. He never fails to give gifts during special occasions whether a simple card or expensive one. Now that its my fours year of being away from him..i really missed him..specially on this occasion. Every time I saw father and daughter walking together, it cant help me but to think of Him.. To Dy thank you for all I may not be able to returned back to you all the things you’ve done for me but I think I can promise you my love for you will surpass time. I really thank my heavenly Father for giving me an earthly father as wonderful and as special as you. We love you always and forever.Answer by julie
