N.H.F: What is the significance of ballistic test in crime investigation?
When there’s crime involving firearms, the police will run a ballistic test. Why the ballistic test is important and how is it related to projectile motion?

A ballistic test shows whether or not a specific gun was used to commit a crime. The projectile motion would help to prove proximity to the victim, so in the case of self defense it would help prove if the victim was in a threatening situation.
* Every firearm imprints a particular set of marks on a bullet. Like a fingerprint. They look at a bullet found at a crime scene,
These can be compared to a bullet that is fired from a confiscated gun (in the crime lab) and copmapre it to the crime scene bullet to determine if that was the weapon that was used in that particular crime.
