CA: what is the “safely remove hardware” on my task bar and what does it do?
i’m to scared to push it thinking it’ll erase something or my computer will blow up!!!!!!

Typically it’s used for any removable media or device. For example, if you have a USB drive, you would want to use the “safely remove hardware” before unplugging it so as to prevent data loss due to read/write not finished to the drive.

It is for safely removal of any external I/O devices.
e.g if you are putting a pendrive in USB port the icon comes to ur sys tray. when u wan to remove the drive dont just pull it as it may crash the drive or data may be lost. so on cliking on safety remove icon the system will first disconnect it and allow you to remove the device
