What is the difference between a miniature bride and a flowergirl?

Mrs♥B: What is the difference between a miniature bride and a flowergirl?
I have heard people refer to someone as their “miniature bride”. What is this? Not a junior bridesmaid or a flowergirl, but a mini bride. What do they do? Are they not the same thing as a flowergirl or junior bridesmaid?

A miniature bride is this weird thing that has become common lately. It mostly seems like an ego trip to me – it’s a little girl who looks like the bride, who gets dressed like, you guessed it, a miniature bride. I don’t think they perform any function except to look cute.

Kind of bizarre to me, but some people like it.
