Good for you! Ask your mom to help you take responsibility by purchasing a bike lock(s) that can stand up to keeping your bike where it belongs. Another words, don’t go cheap relative to quality. Another thing to consider would be the wheels. Are they quick release or fastened by bolts? Quick release is not going to be to your advantage if you don’t take into consideration how best to secure the wheel. People can take wheels and leave the frame, or take the frame and leave the wheels, it all depends how and where on the bike your lock keeps things in place. The advice I was given was to get two locks, a “major one” and a “minor one.” Major being your main lock, minor your secondary lock. It takes more time to steal a bike with two good locks that are hard to bust, and cover more area, depending on where you ride and park. May not need both all the time. I think someone recommended Kryptonite bike locks, google and see what you think.
Best.
Answer by Old HippieReal simple. Get a good U-Bolt lock & use it in conjunction with a cable or thick chain too. See link below for various “Lock Strategies”.Answer by Brother Trucker
Ok this is the best answer.
All right I feel sorry for you because you are getting pretty dumb answers. Bury it in an unmarked grave and park your truck on it.
OK second best way. Ask the boys that courier in your city and you will discover everyone of them will be packin a large logging chain inside of a plastic sleeve. These are certainly the best locks. Its a BMX so no QR hubs. Lock them in anyway. If you have a QR seat remove it, oh and dont forget a good quality pad lock. Ubolts and cables are junk. .
