Cookiemonster97: What is the best book to buy for someone that would like to learn about woodworking/building furniture?
My friend wants to get into building furniture/woodworking and I thought I would buy him a book on the subject for Christmas, but there is so many books to sift through. I don’t want a book from the 70’s or 80’s; I want something that has modern pieces and a modern take on the subject, and definitely geared towards a beginner. Anyone know of any that they can recommend?

Try “Woodworking for Beginners” by Albert Jackson.
He has a couple of other books. I suggest you check them out at Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.
By the way, there is no modern take on woodworking just a few new tools for doing the work.
As to projects, you can have them as modern or old fashioned as you want, but you need to learn the basics first .
