What football are you talking about? European football or American football?
there is american football then association football aka soccer and rugby. 3 different games.
Association football you are not permitted to use your hand unless you are the designated goalkeeper.
american football is played mainly with the hands and each “play” only lasts a few seconds
Rugby is also played mainly with the hands but is a much faster harder game there are no plays the game does not stop when the ball hits the ground.
Answer by Jon CIs this one of these back-handed “Americans should stop calling (association) football ‘soccer'” questions?
Getting pretty sick of it, and it is definitely turning me off, not only to Brits, but also to the FA-spawned code.
