peace_out75: What is an appropriate gift for my uncle to give to his fiancee’s parents?
My uncle is traveling from his home in Colorado to visit his fiancee and meet her parents in Turkey for the first time. They have been reluctant to meet him because he is not Turkish. Also, should he get them each a personal gift or a gift for the two of them?

A gift for both of the parents at the same time.
something for their house
something a bit expensive and tasty.
something not too personal.
EDIT
Why doesn’t he ask the opinion of his fiancee?
P.S.
Izzet, I’m Turkish too.
I wouldn’t buy something personal to people who I don’t know and who just will meet me for their daughter’s sake.
If things go right, then , later I could buy more personal things.
jewellery for the mother-in-law and a watch for the father-in-law. are not too personal.
Perfumes are personal for example.
But Id rather buy something for their house.
I don’t agree with Amada on one point. The more personal the better. In Turkish culture the families exchange tons of personal stuff. The family of bride prepares a basket of gift including a pair of shoes, a belt, a suit, a tie, a bottle of perfume, a shirt and so on and so forth and vice versa.
I would say jewellery for the mother-in-law and a watch for the father-in-law. He can not go wrong with jewellery but nothing too extravagant.
If he calls them “Anne” and “Baba” which are the equivalents of mother and father relatively, he is golden which by the way his fiancee – I presume – has already advised him to do so.
