Diane: What is a very generic gift to give someone?
My best friend’s birthday is tomorrow, and I already made her a very personal gift of our sayings and inside jokes that I know she’ll love. However, I also want to get her a generic gift like money or a gift card. However, I wanted to know if there are any other generic gifts I have to choose from. By generic, I mean the kind of gift you can give anyone.

Gift cards like you said…or candy, soap, candles, stuff that smells good, electronics, picture frames…

It would help to know how old your friend is. But for now, here are some general ideas. If she goes to school or works, then maybe get something like a laptop bag, book bag, PDA, day planner, bookmarks, calculator, pen/pencil set (engraved if you want to go all out), etc.
Also you could try music, movies, gift certificate to her favorite restautant, card games, board games, perfume,…
