Maria f: What is a good way to teach a class about gymnastics?
for my english project, i have to tech my class about gymnastics. I would do like a demonstration but i can’t to anything other than slipts, cartwheels, and round offs. A powerpoint is posible but so common and boring. Does anyone have a suggestion on how i can teach my class about gymnastics?

Since most of the class may not know much about gymnastics, you could show the proper way to do simple skills such as forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels, etc. (For instance, inexperienced tumblers could hurt their head doing a backward roll if they don’t tuck their neck to their chest.) Don’t assume that they already know the right way to do these skills.
If you want to include your classmates in the demonstration, you could introduce partner stunts such as the triple roll or the double roll (if you have mats available) .
When I first read this, I assumed you were a Physical Education instructor, but now I realize you are a student that must explain the art of gymnastics in an English class. If it were a true gymnastics class, I would fully go with the first person’s answer, since they appear to be highly qualified. Since it is actually an academic explanation, I would suggest getting hold of an Olympic gymnastics tape or DVD and show select footage to bolster your report. You could even do it with embedded film clips in a Powerpoint Presentation to spice it up a bit, if that is what you are comfortable with. Good luck with your project.
