I have to write a research paper and the topic has to be related to “love” in some way. I want something that will be fairly easy to research though.
I should include that it is an argument Paper

Courtly love in the Middle Ages. Lots of information, everything from Lancelot and Guinevere to troubadours. Also look for Eleanor of Aquitaine, who was queen of both France and England. She pretty much invented the concept.

How about Shakespeare’s constant theme of distorted love. For example, in Romeo and Juliet, when two youngsters from warring families fall in love. Or Hamlet, where Hamlet’s mother Gertrude supposedly loves her son but does nothing to stop Claudius from manipulating Hamlet. Or in a Midsummer Night’s Dream, where love is more of a spell than a feeling. You could take three or four of his works and come up with a thesis about how Shakespeare uses the concept of love and inverts it in a way that fuels the tragedies he writes.

How about a theme of love and self destruction – love gone wrong? There are tons of sources and research on women and men who’ve ruined their lives or the lives of others – in the name of love -even in the Bible. Example being David and Bathsheba – a king, a man of God who started a war just to kill off that woman’s husband – clearing the path for their love.

You can survey TV series of today and come up with a thesis statement on how love is perceived nowadays as illustrated by these TV series. If not TV series, then maybe movies of a certain period, say 1980s or 2000 onwards; or songs, if music seems to be your interest.
