depends on the crimeAnswer by Sawyer
The crime might not be solved. Without clear evidence one or the other did it, neither should be convicted.
Of course, this is in a world where you really are innocent until proven guilty. Such a place doesn’t really exist.
Answer by ShakyjakeIdentical twins share the exact same DNA. Fingerprints are different though. You state there is no hair, fingerprints, blood from the body? Do you mean there is no physical evidence left at the scene from the suspects? I’m assuming you’re talking about a murder.
If it exist at all a good tech can find it, but I’d bet the the twin in question has something from the victim or scene on his person/possessions. The problem with a “perfect murder” is they do not exist, in any murder there are numerous mistakes.
There is a lot more to crime solving than just physical evidence. I think its best to “solve” your case and let the forensics prove your theory. Sounds to me like your tape is obviously your best clue. Even identical twins don’t move and speak exactly the same. Hopefully you could pick up on clues like that and use it in your interview, maybe get a parent or family member to cooperate that can distinguish between the twins just by looking/hearing them.
Cases like that would be solved in the interview room, hard to imagine one brother letting the other get sent to prison by the others actions. Since they have no alibi you would need to establish who was where in hopes of showing which one could of been at the crime scene.
I would attack the “lack of” alibi. For an example, if you can establish that one was out shopping at the mall 8 miles away and the other was 3 blocks away withdrawing money from the ATM within minutes of the crime, who would you think is the likely suspect? I’ve seen cases solved by suspect getting caught on an ATM camera, bank camera, car lot camera, etc.. We live in a camera world, you can’t go anywhere in the public without being on numerous cameras. Of course I’m assuming we can establish at least one of their alibis. If they both claim to be sleeping at home then it can be tougher.
Wouldn’t be easy, but doable.
Answer by STEVEN FIn the case you describe, the case most likely would NOT be solved. Both twins could create reasonable doubt by pointing the finger at the other.
