: What happens to a puppy that no one wants to adopt from a breeder?
there is a puppy that i saw from an breeder website for labradoodles. i have been on the site for a long time and puppies that are old are suddenly taken off the site. i was wondering what happens to them?

They probably get put down, or sometimes the breeders keep them as their own pets.

Well it depends,
some people keep selling them and pody train them so they can be sold as adults.
Other keep them for themselves and the really mean put them down :(((

Reputable breeders will keep the dog until a home is found.

A BYB or PM will dump it at a shelter, or give it to just anybody. POSSIBLY euthanize, but that’s not always the case.

* However, a REPUTABLE breeder will have homes lined up PRIOR to the breeding of their dogs, so this situation would not arise.

they probably sell them to pet stores or to people. I’m sure they don’t put them down

The puppy will most likely end up at a shelter. Not dead, because no dog breeder that loves their dogs will do that, if they truly cannot find a home they will either keep the pup or give it to a shelter. I love my dogs and I actually got the last of the litter a few years back, but they were FAR from putting him to sleep! We have had puppies also and we would NEVER EVER put any puppies to sleep even if we were unable to find a home for him/her. I know many people who would do the same as us. Sadly, not all dog breeders feel the same that I do and some do get put to sleep.

a doodle breeder is a crap breeder so who knows what happens. But a reputable breeder has a list of homes long before they breed.

Could be anything- anyone breeding a mix and selling on the net like that is not reputable- some of them dump them off in shelters, drown or shoot them or just take them somewhere & dump them to die.

Well from crumby BYBs that you have found who knows, they probably dump them at shelters and if they don’t get adopted well probably get put down. From a reputable breeders this rarely happens because they find homes for them BEFORE the female is pregnant or they don’t breed if they can’t find homes. If a person backs out they keep them until they can find them a home. DON’T think of taking on of these junk dogs.
