Claudio F: What exam do I need to pass to become a fee only personal financial adviser?
I have a high school diploma and I am passionate about finance.
Do i have to pass the series number 6, 64, 7?
Do i need sponsorship from a company to write the exam?

The answer to both is YES, no exceptions.
The examination to become a Financial Adviser is not a walk in the park. My friend had to complete her degree in Finance then her employer offered to “sponsor” her for the Series 7 license. It took her some time before she was eligible to test.
The key here is: DO NOT DO ANY consulting, advising or otherwise border on “financial adviser” tasks. That’s a big disqualifier. You can not talk, discuss, hint, recommend anything to anyone during the time you’re studying for your license.
You’re about 6 to 8 years out before you get your license unless your Dad owns Citicorp or similar organization.
Good luck. Big bucks but you have to really sweat the test. It is harder than the test required to become a CPA!
Answer by newjerseyguyThe first thing you will need is a four-year colledge degree.
