What do different religions believe about heaven and hell?

BallerBT: What do different religions believe about heaven and hell?
How do the different religions believe that we get to heaven? And how do they believe that we get to hell? (That is…if they believe in heaven and hell) I, myself, believe in Jesus as our saviour and that he is the only way to heaven, but I’m curious to know what other religions believe.

Here’s one particular one

Salvation from the penalty, power, and presence of sin is another issue in itself.
In summary, basically one accepts Christ’s righteousness, allows the righteousness to work in them, and then they will be taken to heaven when Christ returns.

Salvation is completely the work of the indwelling Christ.

“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27)

in Islam the only way to heaven is believing in one god (Allah) not many gods
that he is the only creator , no god but him , he doesn’t have a son or a wife or a partner in creating the universe , every thing moves and goes upon his will

Well, there are three major religions/denominations I have been affiliated with throughout my life:

1. Seventh Day Adventist (born and raised)- That Salvation is through Jesus, Trinity etc. No belief in Hell. They believe Hell, as spoken of in the bible, merely means “death” and destruction of the earth after Judgment Day. They don’t believe in Eternal torment. They don’t think its the mark of a loving God.

2. Pagan- which I semi-practice. Some believe life is a cycle. When you die, you die- but your body is absorbed into the ground, nourishing it, and other life. In a way, we become part of the earth, and part of a cycle that has gone on forever and will go on forever, even though we ourselves do not.

3. Unitarian Universalism- the religion I practice. U.Us allow each induvidual to make up their own minds about what they want to believe. U.U is about being able to get along despite our differences. Ergo, one U.U might believe in hell, another would not.

Most don’t. Unitarian Universalism sprung out from both the Unitarian and Universalist movements. Those that DO believe in heaven believe that a Loving God wouldn’t send ANYONE to hell, therefore all go to heaven.

But most, as I said, don’t have a position on hell at all. Its about living life now.
