Austin: What crime would keep someone from earning a degree in the United States and from running for office?
What crime would keep someone from earning a degree in the United States and from running for office? I have a friend who is very vague about this. He committed a crime in Arizona and I would like to know what without asking him. He is a 19 year old male.

Murder or any crime that involves you going to prison
A felony can keep you from running for certain offices but nothing can keep you from earning a degree.

Any felony will prohibit a person from running for office. I’m not aware of any offense that prohibits a person from earning a degree. However, certain crimes do prohibit a person from qualifying for certain types of financial aid for college. One example is drug related crimes.Answer by Pat
These people are all WRONG.
Felonies do not prohibit anyone from running for office.
There are plenty of public officials who are convicted felons.
