Al Kensie: What are the two most dangerous religions today?
Some people may think that religion is not harmful at all. But others know that it is. One thing that I notice is that atheists usually know a lot more about religion than religious people do. Religion causes people to become irrational and do dangerous and terrible things. Religious people cannot see this the way that the non-religious do.
There are the terrorists, there are the people who kill their own children to “save their souls” or to keep them from going to hell. There are the people who blow up abortion clinics, or who kill their family and then themselves – for who knows what reason. There are those who start wars, or do other things to harm those who do not believe as they do. It is horrible. Please people, wake up to this horror. Personally, I think that Christianity and Islam are the two most dangerous religions today.

You have to first define what you mean by “dangerous”…are you speaking about religiously condoned negative influences in this world, or making bad decisions that impact one’s eternity?
Personally, I think dangerous decisions that impact you eternally are far more dangerous than anything finite man could impose…enjoy being judgmental, but be careful, because God says that you will be judged with the same measure of judgment that you applied to others.

Religions are not inherently dangerous. People, however, are very dangerous, especially if they feel justified in their actions by their religion. I have nothing against the theory of any faith. I have a LOT of issues with people who try to inflict their own relationship with the divine on me. Mine is obviously, much, much different and is actually relevant, and closely tied to, my OWN culture and not a foreign culture.
Oh, and we leave our deities out of our poor behaviors when we do them. We have more respect for them than that. WE bear responsibility for ourselves, not our deities.

Both religions have been bastardized to where they are hardly recognizable today and are used as “reasons” to justify the killing of others who are not like them or do not think like them.
Very unspiritual, for sure….
