Danielle: What are the pros and cons of having a recumbent exercise bike over a normal exercise bike?
I’m hoping to buy an exericse bike and I want to know the benefits og having a recumbent bike over the usual exercise bike? I’ve heard there is less stres ony our knees. I’d liek to know which one is cheaper and more compact and which one tones which parts of the body?

go for a run its cheaper and you’ll get better results because you can’t stop to watch the telly, chat or freewheel
Conventional exercise bikes seem to be horridly uncomfortable, for the most part. If you can get a “spinner” type, then you can put a decent saddle on it. The monster seats in heath clubs are the pits for heat build up and comfort IMHO. If you are looking for something electronic or from a sporting goods store, odds are a recumbent will be more comfortable. Don’t forget to check out Ebay or Play It Again Sports. These things depreciate pretty violently. You may be able to get a better unit (more durable) used for about the same as a crappy one new. Good luck.
